V4 How Do You Work On Your Front Wheel

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by ymfb, Apr 6, 2026.

  1. Sometimes I have to ask Mrs YMFB to lean on the back of whichever motorcycle I’m working on so I can rotate the front wheel. I have a roller somewhere, but to deploy that also needs Mrs YMFB. Should I be getting a front paddock stand or something else?

  2. Yes

  3. Which one or type for a V4S Multistrada

  4. Anything with a L shape adapter fitting will do. Which is most of the cheapo ones

  5. I've had mine for years, it's done, many GSXR's, R1, KTMSDR1290, 1299 etc, I've had to modify it so I can get the axle out and raised it so tyre warmers would rotate, it's similar to the one in the link,. Not how you'll get on with a 19" front wheel so it clears the ground, I would do a bit of research to ensure enough height. It's pretty stable, never had any issues.

  6. I bought one recently with the pins, works a treat and feels safer than those rotating bracket type

  7. Height is your main concern, to make sure it can in fact lift the front wheel off the ground, many don’t.

Better still, treat yourself to an Abba Skylift.

  8. I have the Warrior and it works fine with the 19" wheel. I do find that the back wheel then touches the ground so I put the bike on the centre stand on a plank of wood to give it a touch more height.
Also have a roller but wheel always spins off at an angle.

  9. Yes, get a front paddock stand. Or if you're a tight arse, get a block of wood, and get the mrs to put it under the forks when you lean on the back of the bike!

  10. A friend gave me a pair of Oxford paddock stands, fit perfect. Thanks for the tips

  11. If I need the front wheel off the ground I put it on the centre stand and position a pre-set axle stand close to the front exhaust downpipe.
Then I put my weight on the back to lift the front and slide the axle stand under the downpipe with my foot. Works a treat.

Just noticed this thread is about a V4, whilst my reply is about my 1260. Oops!
