How did you get the cases re-coated without taking the engine out? If you don't fancy repairing it/the cost of. Would you consider selling it? I'd be keen for one of these and could manage a small project when the one on the left goes back home in a week or so! PM me if you would go down this route.
No. I'm gonna get it sorted out. I love the bike and no plans to sell ( I've put too much into it already)....the side cases were coated but I always had plans to recoat the whole engine....this just forced my hand... Don't take this wrong way but I'm guessing it would be a peanuts type offer...there's ton of updated stuff on it!
Nah, I'm not the type to make comedy offers. I'd like one of these for airport runs to replace my scooter and would happily pay an appropriate price for something that would keep me out of mischief as the evenings get longer. Anyway it was just a thought, I hope it all works out!
From experience, I can tell you that the crank condition is not set by lack of debris in oil. I had none in mine yet was toast, Sorry. BTW I have a newly built 675 you could squeeze in there FWIW I bought a used, perfect crank for triumph for £150 from USA, as all UK sellers wanted £500 plus. They are £1400 new.
Only the Gen 2 Hypers have that part number but it still doesn't mean the aren't interchangeable - just need someone in the know. Could be a supplier change, or even a bearing supplier change that caused the part number to change. Try checking the crank case numbers too to give you a clue.
Thanks for link and the info exige. Ducati john did say he might have one... New crank is an eyewatering 1300 quid...
