I'm having an issue with my Hyper 1100, I broke one of the fuel line connectors (separate thread) while trying to disconnect it from the tank. I have bought a new connector, but the fuel line is more like a really hard plastic, rather than a rubber type fuel line. This is making fitting the new connector onto the line impossible. I have tried immersing the line in hot water, before pushing the barbed end of the connector into the line, but no joy, the line remains rock hard. At first I thought that maybe the line has gone hard with age, so I was going to replace it, but I'm now reading that maybe they come from the factory like this, and the line is heated up beyond water boiling point to install the quick connector to the line in the factory, so even if I buy a new line, I will still have the same issue when it comes to fitting the connector. Can anyone help?
Do you have a hot air gun? The type of thing used for stripping paint. It’s worth trying with that, but be careful as you don’t want the line to melt.
Thanks Paul, yes, I tried that, it didn't make it soft enough unfortunately. I have been researching it bit since and apparently there is a tool you can buy to "press" the fitting on, looks a bit like a caulk gun. It's never straightforward with these old bikes!
