I've seen mine for sale. I love the Diavel, far easier to ride faster than the 848, and comfier too. But I miss it so a plan is forming.
I like the panigale too but when I think of the roads I usually ride I don't think a pani would make me ride them any faster and I couldn't part with the 848 yet
Please refer to post 4 Less of the "fat" please  [Figaro mode on] Wanna race? [/Figaro mode off]
Trackbike?.... I haven't had the 848 long, but I'm loving it so far. It does remind me of the 748 I had years ago but I deffo wasn't experienced enough for it back then! I do miss the sound of my Daytona 675 though, not yet sure if there is a better noise out there....
Seen mine for sale too If I could I probably would, but atm that's not really possible sadly........if it's still there next year though it may well find itself back in my possession
Never ho back fellas. Its like your first bird you find on FB: they are never what they once were and it leaves what was a good memory as bad
Tend to agree with most here. I really get on with my 848 Evo. Best bike I've had so far. All have been Jap il4's before... Thing is, I feel like I'm treating her badly when I really rag it... Think she likes it though!...
I enjoy it, i find it v easy to ride. I enjoy not having to ride the stones outta the engine like an IL4. A buddy here has a 1098s. I rode it., Big oomph compared to the 848, seems to spin a little bit more effortlessly ( obviosuly ) but its down to what you want out of it.
i luv my 848. Test rode the 1098 before buying it but just liked the engaging ride of the 848. Occasionally i think i could do with a a bit more punch (usually on a tight overtake) but not often. And it's so rewarding when your on it and you hit a sweet road. I would have had it 5 years in March 14 and still have no intention of selling. I should mention it has not had a fault in that time (touches wood) apart from a small termi header crack which i just discovered the other day.
Why? Uglier than a mk1 multi, more power than is usable and a brand which means delay for when it goes wrong..,,get a Honda it will last longer ;-)
Love my 848 too bud... Swapped bikes on a ride out the other day for my mates 1098.. I was expecting lots more power / better brakes & a generally better ride (always nice!) but no... Felt vague on the corners & generally odd when I tipped it in, only extra power seemed at the top end & the brakes were no better than my 848 although maybe that has something to do with mine having the excellent SBS pads in now.. I'm not slagging the 1098 here its truly an amazing bike, its just made me a lot happier I chose the 848 over it thats all... She's a keeper..
I've ridden side by side with a few 1098 and 1198 and tbh there is nothing in it! Shoot me guys and girls but it's true! "real world" (cue Andy ) side by side drag race it only gets on right at the top end of speed it seems to have no more drive out of corners as TC and unable to fully open the taps etc hold it back, having ridden them I have always been more than happy with the 848 it's shocking that it keeps pace with the 1000cc superbikes (even if it does live in the limiter) as it's near 50bhp down, just goes to show how great a little bike it is Mine has been on a diet so maybe that's where it gets it's edge?
When normal (lets say brisk) road riding the 848 will keep up with a 1199/1098 etc. However get it on a straight with absolutely no limits and the 848 will struggle to keep up. It will however catch them up on the bends. A "mate" found that out in Scotland this summer
There's not 50HP difference is there?? I think its more like 25 at the wheel, 125hp for 848 evo and about 150hp for the 1098? I am shocked a few have said it doesn't have as much bottom end grunt, I always thought it would be a monster up to 6k revs, more than the 1199 even.
I'll bet... All I know is my mate with his 1098 rode a 750 GXSR in a previous life & me on my R6?.. He killed me in all situations.. Excellent rider with bigger nads than mine but all that seems to have swapped now... I'm nearly punting him on the bends & even when we are opening them up mine stays there all the way although tbf these are roads so we are careful not to break the 120mph speed limit..
Sorry I mean 50bhp down on say a s1000rr etc etc.. Seems BMW need to include autopilot, big balls mode, auto lean, or eat the 848 mode into the package
