I've been using one brand for seventeen years on a regular basis in the garden and on outside works and that is Stihl, chainsaws / strimmers / leaf blowers etc,but also a big Husqvarna (my baby had from new) since 1989 with no issues ever.
Stihl or nothing, I have a few friends in the trade, a Tree Surgeon, 2 x Loggers and a Tree Trimmer for a Power Lines company, they all specify Stihl, they used to recommend Huskie as well but in the last few years they have become cheap shite, so stihl only. Coincidentally I have just bought a new Chainsaw last month, guess which brand it was, Stihl MS 180, with a 16" bar, also available with a 14" bar.
One of the few good things about getting older is being able to afford better toys, I love being able to decide which of my chain saws to use for different jobs. I'm currently willing one of mine to peg out (A McCullough I bought from B&Q 15 years ago) so I can replace it with a Husqvarna or a Stihl but it refuses to die. According to the man in my local proper tools shop McCullough are the hobbyists brand in the Husqvarna portfolio which may explain its longevity.
