They will almost certainly be back, I`d get some visible deterrents asap even if it is just signs warning of cameras and an alarm. We were burgled back in 2016 and I mentioned it on here. @camelfarmer you commented on the post and kindly offered to come round with a shotgun. and also to cook for us which was very nice of you. We didnt take you up on the offers but did put in place several layers of security. A couple of months later we had another visit but the scrote bag, possibly the same one, saw he was being recorded and left without trying to get in. We live quite remotely, at least 400 yards to our neighbours so need very visible deterrents but even something as simple as a locked gate so they have to commit to jumping over it or breaking it is a good start, especially if they think they are being filmed all the while.
I’ve got an alarm, insurance, and the bikes are locked with big chains to a ground anchor with alarmed disc locks on, in a the garage, which is covered by the alarm. I did look into cameras but they’re expensive and I can’t see the thief’s being stupid enough to leave them unharmed or come in without masks. Though my ex has a clinic in Marlborough which got broken into in broad daylight and then theifs were caught from the footage. So maybe they’re stupid.
I am certainly no expert in this area of security, and an absolute IT numpty, but are there not some really good recording devices that are linked to your computer etc, that alarm when someone gets to close to something? You can see whats happening from anywhere in the world and does not cost too much, relatively speaking.
£35 for a 720p camera that just needs power and Wi-fi. It records to the cloud for £7-8 a month (then half price for every subsequent camera). I’ve 5 of them and quality is good enough for identification. Night vision too although that isn’t the best unless supplemented with and extra IR light source such as an IR flood.
There’s a doorbell that does something similar I can’t remember what it’s called but I remember the advert with the guy shopping the doorbell rings and he can see the guy at the door
Hi JH Would you like me to tarmac your drive, i got some spare from the M25 job I was doing recently.
Fill some fucking pot holes with it then Just had extension done and it ruined the driveway. That’s next years job
https://www.mymemory.co.uk/clever-dog-smart-camera-wifi-monitor-blue.html We use 5 of these so just over £100 for the lot and that gives excellent coverage and they are easy to use. We also have 4 waterproof cameras outside, an alarm and can I recommend www.windowfilm.co.uk/Anti-Shatter as this will keep the little turds from just smashing a window to get in.
