The theory ain't that easy judging by how many I know who are driving a car and yet to obtain a motorcycle test due to being unable to pass the theory.
Higher standards are required with more hard nosed rejections for people that will never get what it takes.
However you'll realise just how many who passed their test before the theory requirement who drive yet can't pass a theory exam designed to keep numpties from driving with a licence. My Daughter has her first theory test on Sunday yet in the mocks can't get the required pass percentage, clearly she not fit to drive yet some of the questions are on how a car works and functions. Which not surprisingly she can't answer correctly, nothing wrong with her driving and other parts of the Highway Code knowledge. There was a thread on here earlier in the week with a kinda of test and seemed some couldn't answer some if not all the questions correctly.
Yes there's no doubt about it i would struggle on the new theory test like many others from my generation, but i can do a handbrake turn and also a reversing flip...does that count for anything these days or not.
My first driving test that must of been about '78 was cancelled due to snow. My driving instructor was booked for the hour and I was going to use his car - possibly a Mazda 323 - and his solution to the problem was better than any theory test. We went to Swindon Town's football ground next to the "magic roundabout" - Swindon likes roundabouts which was empty but covered in snow. My "driving test" was learning the above in the snow in a deserted car park. I wasn't massively disappointed that my driving test was cancelled!
My kind of day out,If everybody had access to that car control format then it would provide enormous benefits for all motorists longterm on the public highways.Back on track perhaps all the bus drivers in the future should sit up on top in a open bus with a instructor operating a remote control device that lowers and raises bridges as they approach them, this would certainly wake them up and Not ever forgotten when applied in the real world....food for thought.
I took my theory test in 2014 passed 1st time, with the correct study the part 1 is a piece of piss. I would think the hazard perception catches out most candidates. Passed in June 2015, failed mod 1, 1st time, foot down. Passed mod 2, 1st time with 2 minor faults. Age at time of test 60, I had a YBR125 for 5 months to get used to riding a bike again. Add to this a brilliant instructor, Woody at MKMT.
Yes agreed as i went back to the classroom in 2012 for a gas safety test operative course as i was bored at that time in life and to my surprise the lecturer came upto me with congratulations, you're the first to pass the exam.crikey it's amazing what you can achieve in life when you want something that bad.
The lovely magic roundabout, been across that a few times visiting the mega motorcycle store and Blade, it's like crossing the road in Italy at a pedestrian crossing, stand on it and hope they stop!!
It has been there for at least 50 years and so I guess that it must have a very low accident rate. I guess that people are very careful there.
Just found this dated 2016. https://gigazine.net/gsc_news/en/20...amiliar, such, one fatal accident has happened.
Looking at the CrashMap, whilst there have been 94 collisions, either slight or serious, there have been no fatalities at the Magic Roundabout in the 21 years to 2019. I don’t know when/where the 1 fatality mentioned in @WAYNE posting above occured? https://www.crashmap.co.uk/Search Sometimes “Seems Dangerous” is actually safer!
I hate it, the first time i came across it was ages ago when mega motorcycle store was called something else then, i was on my 650 bandit with my son on the back, fucking what the fuck, you have no time to think about what the fuck is going on, mental but after a few goes it just sort of works.
