Importing From Holland

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by drax dave, Jul 10, 2020.

  1. Hi to All, I think that I need a Moto Guzzi Le Mans III to go with my mint Ducati S2R Thou.

There is a nice Mk III in Holland but I think importing it might prove a bit tricky, anyone got any advice or experience ?

  2. Looking at the DVLA website it appears that "approval" is required, must be a bit like a very thorough MOT I am guessing ?

The speedo will need to read MPH - not a problem really, a instrument specialist will be able to strip it down, print out an MPH scale and rebuild - job done.

The headlight is a bit more tricky, there appear to be no "English Pattern" units at Gutsibits or Fowlers - any comments guys ??

  3. I imported and registered a Bike a few years back. So first of all you need a nova certificate. I can't help with that as I didn't need that. The MOT is just your standard mot at a place if your choice. My Speedo was in Km/h and I just put stickers over the top on the outside and that was fine. In fact I believe it's not a requirement for an MOT. Alternatively you can put a 5 pound wireless speedo for pushbikes on and that's ok too. Then a dating certificate was required which I got from a place called fanatic scooters and no, my bike wasn't a scooter. He charged me 15 quid and can date any 2 wheeled vehicle. He asked me make, model, cc, vin number and the date I wanted it to be!!! Then 65 quid for a UK registration and a trip to the local DVLA office as the man dealing with it wanted to see the bike. All very straight forward. It was a few years back though so things might have changed.
