Just playing with trying to upload photos of this posh hotel, That is another problem that I get. The photo is too big to load. It may well be a good camera, but if the result is a picture too bitto lode, it’s not much help, if Mr Logical was in town, you could be permitted to turn down the picture size permanently, but Mr Logical has long-since left for cleaner pastures!
I believe that I am getting very close to becoming the old major from Fawlty Towers. I do nothing much and just wander around. I know that I should care about this, but don’t.
I am happy. I go back to England. In about a week and a half and less than a week after that, I take delivery of a new Gold Star delivered to my house, with the KTM collected, so I never have to ride it again Nothing could be better! when I return, I will investigate flights to Madrid for a trip there. If I come back here again, I would not take the ferry from Plymouth, but fly to Santander Airport. I can do England to Santander directly, but I don’t want to use the UK airports they use. I don’t think that either Bristol or Heathrow do flights directly to Santander. There are lots of flights between Madrid and here. Anyone know how it works if I BA to Milan, but then Iberia Madrid to Santander? Is it like trains, where you buy one ticket for the whole journey and don’t have to shit around with multiple tickets and checking ins? Or I might just stay a night or two in Madrid, At least I will get a decent nights sleep. I am sure that hotels don’t put the beds on rockets and pay someone to lie under the bed all night, rocking it until you are sick. Maybe you can have that “Brittany Feries” service if you pay extra?
I can do Iberia from London HEATHROW to Madrid and Madrid to Santander all with just Iberia.. I don't know, but I assume that makes it simpler.
Please make sure you read the manual for the Gold Star and any pc stuff get someone to show you how it works and don't let them leave until you do
I've never read a motorbike instruction manual in my life and I am not about to start now! The Beeza is simple old school, that's why I am buying it! Anyway, the problem with the iPhone is data. I had run out and O2 prefer to keep it as a state secret, rather than sell you any more. This phone seems to eat data, so I assume that Apple are having a good snoop. I've bought some more data. Based upon previous experience, I might just about get through the night! I think that Apple are trying to do a backup, although I haven't asked them to.. I suppose the temptation to have a good snoop is just overwhelming! The reason that this has used all my data is that for some Apple crazy reason, they will not do it over WiFi. Only when I am away from the hotel and without WiFi, does the backup continue at the pace of a crippled snail
If you’ve been uploading large photos (deliberately or otherwise) using mobile data, I suspect you’ll have used it up some time ago, which would explain why you’re having trouble.
Unless you have me on block (in which case you won’t see this either), I explained how to do that above.
Right. They're iPhone settings and I struggle with iPhoney settings. I'll have a play about. Seems odd.. They create problems and then provide solutions (tucked away) to overcome those problems that they created. That's on, mobile data and I was on WiFi so I need to check what is on WiFi . Ii bought more mobile data, but I am not wasting it trying to upload test photos.
My contract provides 5GB roaming - as you probably know the iPhone has a data roaming tracker. I set this to zero when leaving to go abroad, so as to keep a track of how much data there remains. It also shows which apps have been using the data. You can limit when backups are run, to save data usage. There is quite a lot you can do to manage data usage. I am sure the camera has different picture resolution settings in the camera app, that can be changed on the go. And backup all that stuff when you are on the hotel WiFi. Hotel WiFi can get congested as well at certain times - not like being at home. They might even have data management in the hotel to keep costs down ? Free WiFi - but someone has to pay for it so the Hotel might have some limits - who knows. It is all good fun really, learning all this stuff keeps the brain from shutting down - probably at the expense of blood pressure - but hey, no free rides
I bought 500 mb of extra data and the phone hasn't been off hotel WiFi since. Last time I looked, it was down to 150, which is insane! I suspect that this is because the iPhone refuses to use WiFi for many tasks. I'll have to leave the phone switched off from now on here - even in the hotel connected to WIFI. That renders the phone useless. I won't bother to take it abroad again. If it pulls any of this shit in England, then it's binned. That might happen anyway.as I hope to return to Spain later in the year. I know that I cannot take the iPhone with me, so what is the point of having a mobile phone that is immobile!
The stress that it's causing me is not justified. There's nothing wrong with the hotel WiFi and when I use it with this tablet (as I have to) it's fine and plenty quick enough. Mind you, this is an Android tablet, and when I was here a couple of months ago, I didn't have any problems with an Android phone.
What is terrible is that I left my phone in my room charging, when I came down for breakfast. Now in the hotel coffee shop and scared to go back to my room. That extra 500 mb of data that I bought will most likely be long gone. Stupid me who never realised that there's a price to pay for charging!
