  1. Have sold a lot of stuff recently by listing on ebay, then placing the listing link in forums in the ad? People can then see your feedback is good and send Paypal as a gift, leaving you to end the item with no end value or Paypal fee's...

El Toro - wait for the next free listing weekend and get a load of stuff on? Once listed if it sells, all good! If it doesnt then its a few clicks to relist it next time?

Isn't going to sell itself? :upyeah:

  2. I should have done it today but I haven't. The sofa has been threatening to float away so I've had to lay on it all day so it didn't.

  3. Takes alota time laying on the sofa...oh yes...

  4. ebay is shit and has bee n for several years. 10 years ago or so it was a mecca for the garage clear out. now its an 'ecommerce' site...auctions only account for something like 5% of its business.Coupled with the fact that they treat users like crap..i dont know of anyone who has any respect for the site as a whole. my account has been suspended for 3 months for no apparent reason. The computer generated email was blank. the customer support staff could only tell me that it would be reinstated on the 26th Oct (it hasnt been)..i had 100% for over 10 years. it dropped to 99.8% due to a tosser negging me over a £1 item ..true.

If theres something on there of interest then i buy it directly from the company rather than via their ebay shop. If there are private i do the deal off ebay. If they dont want to do the deal then im fine with that.
i dont use gumtree as its owned by ebay.
Its fair for me to say that ebay is probaly my most dispised internet company. i hate everything about them, their entire ethos. the fees are exhorbitant, their protocols idiotic, their demeanour draconian. the constant moving of the goalposts and tinkering with the rules and fees used to drive me mad. Now i dont give a shit about them. Personally, i would love them to go out of business. I dont know anyone who enjoys using ebay anymore.

I hate being a seller, utterly hate it....and i intensely dislike being a buyer. I use it as a shop window, no more no less.
If i may be so coarse...Fuck ebay.

  5. I do.

  6. Me too! :)

  7. I just get things going for crappy prices and demanding buyers .. I'm really fast to post and stuff .. Oh and I often like to do my feedback when people leave there's ..
If you have a narky buyer then it will be somebody who's paid 99p for something that they'd have to buy for £20 in the shop

  8. Why do people dwell on feedback so much?

  9. I still like ebay... there are still bargains there (although not always easy to find) and so far (touch wood) I never had any problems with sellers or buyers.

  10. Just had a reply from a non-payer from three-four weeks back:

    "Hi Darren,

Sorry I thought I had already paid for this. I have been away on business for the last 3 weeks and not been checking emails.

I still want this if it is still available?"

[FONT=arial, sans-serif]So. You were "on business" and didnt check one email for three weeks?

Seroiusly... where were you, on the frickin' Moon??

  11. Sure there's always a risk and it happened before that I had to wait for payment or delivery much longer than expected but I take into account that this may happen and I don't stress too much about it.

  12. I hear its earned the nick name trud me can't imagine how that happened

  14. it pays to try and out smart the cattle.. look for items a long way from home (especially vehicles) works particularly well for bikes in the middle of nowhere. Also try searching with deliberately wrong spellings - mis listed items normally attract very few bids.

  15. I've had a spate if people not paying or even when I've put payment in 3 days please don't .
When I did say to someone I wanted payment they flipped!
How about not buying things you have no intention of paying for :(

So what top tips have people got on selling?
I am trying to declutter a bit .
Oh someone pointed at some new football boots ... Ducati puma evo's ..
And how much are they £175 !!!! I choked on my tea!
I think smaller sizes are loads cheaper by about £130 less for under size 6.
The rate eBay is going for me itl be reconditioned Dunlop green flashes :)

  16. I could be totally wrong, but I've always had the idea that eBay works for sellers if they are happy to exchange their goods for any money at all. If they want a decent price for it... well....

As regards buying, it's still a haven for 2nd hand bike gear. The amount of people who buy brand spanking Dainese leathers and wear them about twice. Especially women's stuff as the guy likes the idea of his other half in leather so buys all the kit. Then 3 scenarios occur:

    1. She finds she doesn't much like going on the bike.
    2. They split up
    3. She gets pregnant.

The 4th scenario is that he changes his bike and the leathers no longer match.

All good news for the second hand leathers buyer.

  17. Yup, I've got a £900 set of Dainese leathers that I paid £300 for. The guy bought them while in hospital recovering from a hip operation, only the op never went well and he was unable to ride. Poor scenario for him but a right result for me:upyeah:

  18. I still enjoy using ebay. I've had a few snags with purchases and some really annoying problems with selling a car but I still like it on the whole.

You can have problems with buying second hand stuff wherever you get it, but I've found that the majority of ebayers are genuine and honest folk. I bought my 999S un-seen from ebay, and the guy couldn't have been better ~ Totally honest and a real pleasure to deal with.
