  1. Now you're talking... Not sure I could "bear" the "Tension"... see what I did there..... ;-)

  2. Don't forget to reset the TPS after you've had the throttle bodies apart.

  3. Hi Dave, yes it's on the list..it did go back in the exact same position, but everything will need setting up... suspension too.
    Cheers

  4. Motul 7100...I'm not saying more than that! :D

  12. Extra virgin olive oil, smells lovely although your engine might not like it.

Really enjoyable read, will we see it finished at the EMM!

  14. Well...well...well. At least we beat GTA6!!!... Hold-on that's not really an accomplishment is it....

To say it has been a test to finish has been an understatement. :sob:

I have just had a ride in semi-anger and everything is correct and working, though I will replace the choke cable, and the rear brake needs more adjustment. There is still the bodywork to paint, but I will wait until the springtime weather before completing it.

I got the bike first running in January 2024, and then tried to set it up correctly as it just wouldn't run properly. I played around with a couple of ECU maps using IAW15xWriter from GuzziDiag fame. Had to repurchase a Lonelec cable as the one I had didn't seem to fit correctly, but nothing doing. With the wisdom of hindsight I can now say I think a map won't cause a bike not to run, it would just run slightly better or slightly worse.

I closely followed Brad the Bike boy's explanation on setting up the throttle bodies and the TPS, and while I seemed to get results (voltages) that were correct the thing still wouldn't run correctly, I swapped leads over, plugs over, new plugs, old plugs, coils swapped...the list went on. I purchased a digital vacuum balancing gauge (TwinMax) couldn't get the thing to balance, it seemed to wildly swing all over the place. Tried to go old-school, purchased a set of mercury balance gauges..same thing.

I took the bike to the local Ducati wizard last year, who just said if you have split the throttle bodies it is impossible to set them up correctly. : unamused:

Finally early on last year I purchased a replacement set of complete throttle bodies that were untouched from the factory settings...swapped them over with glee that I had finally cracked the damn thing...and...exactly the same issues, misfires on the vertical and even if running on two, running very rough. :triumph::triumph:

This drawn-out process went along the lines of – nothing for 2-3 months – then find a bit of gumption..insist it wasn't rocket science and remind myself to just “be methodical”...spend a day or 2 going in circles, give in... then nothing for 2-3 months... and on and on....and on and on. :sob:

Finally last week I fiddled and it seemed to work, the thing is I hadn't “done” anything in particular  I'd checked everything over from six months back to remind myself where I was...and it ran correctly. The symptoms of an intermittent misfire on the vertical cylinder had gone.

I put the airbox back closed everything up...and... it didn't run again. WOW! At least this finally gave me an avenue to explore...electrical connectors!

Turns out the TPS three pin connector wasn't seating correctly, I was back pinning the plug with two paperclips to check the TPS voltages..and the force of pushing in the paperclips was enough to make the connections work, but when I removed the paperclip it seems that the connection was semi-broken.

So simple, but so much trouble to discover. Anyway...a conclusion of sorts. It did come out very close to the first Photoshop mockup made years and years back now...:D

The finished result (paint still needed:eek:):

A last reflection, I was never enamoured with the look of the ssie, but I've found that the "looking angle" is very important...up on a workbench it has difficult intersections of surfaces, but down on the ground it improves a lot, especially with the half fairings. :upyeah:
