999 Is This For Real...surely Taking The P*ss

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Sdj5, Oct 23, 2017.

  1. That's not a 'bike' - it's a bitsa from stuff he's been trying to sell for ages, like that LV 749 system that he's pretending is a 999 system, it's all stuff he's been advertising and he's thrown it all into one lump to make buyers believe he's breaking the bike, nothing matches if you look carefully.

  2. Also, it's a Termi in the first picture then changes to the LV.

A plastic 999 mono tail, more expensive than any carbon one:

The most ridiculously overpriced magnesium headlight housing I've ever seen:

"Cost a fortune back in the day 1000+ each side so the total cost for the complete both sides and accessories exceeded 2000pounds!"

    Or possibly just 240€:

  6. I've bought from him - never posted, called in at his place. Done some deals on the spot. He's moved into a bigger unit on a small industrial estate. First time I met him was breaking stuff in his garage - seemed to be all 999. Now 999 and 916 plus Aprilia RSVs and there was a blue Monster S4

Yes he talks it up - forever pointing to bits worth a fortune.
It does make me weep to see beautiful bikes broken down mind.

I got a radiator and both fans for £100, having been done for £25 for the wrong fan on eBay (advertised for 2005/6 model and it wasn't - bodged it but wanted the correct one). Spare rad' always useful.
Couple of years back got a 749R tank (bigger capacity) for a £200. They are pretty rare. He remembered and offered to buy it back off me.
Bought a perfect set of front disc rotors for £80. Cheaper than after market wavy bollocks. Spares for the future.

I'm not defending - but it just emphasises buyer beware - know what stuff is worth - don't get sucked in.....isn't that eBay?

  7. He sold you a 749R tank for £200?! He must have being having an off day, now that tank would be the only one on the planet and would have been licked from top to bottom by Pierre Terblance himself and yours for an absolute bargain price of £1500 and a bag of Wotsits (cheese flavour). :grinning:
