  1. Interesting , their website states "
    * Ever Red 12 or 24 month extended warranty must be activated at point of purchase in line with the standard manufacturer warranty process."

Does that mean you're buggered if you already own a DVT? Can see me calling them tomorrow and reporting back. Even at £649 for 2 years I can see it as a good investment if you plan to keep it as I do, you will be sure to get your money back !!!

  2. Land Rover or an Audi ??

  3. That's how I read it Franksie, it looks like you now have to purchase it at the time of purchasing the bike, not like the old type of extended warranty which had some leaway. Thing is it could be £650 well spent or a waste of money. But on the other hand thinking about it, should you not want to keep the bike after 2yrs it should make it easier to sell :upyeah:

  4. Apparently there is 7 months grace on previously registered bikes - so if it was registered 1st Jan 2016 you have until 31st July to take out the warranty so on a countdown- then from 30th Sept onwards it goes at point of purchase -so that is when the back dating ends.

  5. You make some fair points Rain, the problem is in this day and age the internet is a double edge sword, it can work fantastically well for your business and in fact most purely online businesses and the tourist industry rely on public reveiws almost entirely for there continued success, and who in this day and age when considering a new purchase wouldn't look at some kind of review site first ?
Any one researching on a forum with any common sense will glean what they can, and take the view that people in the main go on a forum to make known their negative experiences.
That all said, if the same problems keep reoccurring and dealers are saying either "it's within limits" or replacing parts with known defective parts, then I think people have the right to know.
I myself looked at this forum and choose to take the above view, and that as my bike was a 2016 and not a 2015 model, that any simple faults would have been addressed on the later models and had that very conversation with the dealer, that doesn't appear to be the case. As said on a previous post, I guess some people have more tolerance for unnecessary issues than others and will keep quiet.
All I really want is a bike that I can drag out of the garage for a blast or a long trip without unnecessary and inconvenient trips to the dealer for repairs which I've had with all my previous bikes.

  6. Dealers are not replacing parts wit "known defective parts" this is an invention of this forum. It's just not that simple. people here shit on dealers because they think it makes them look cool to the group and they are personally offended that the dealer didn't solve their problem instantly and magically print out upgraded parts in the back room.

  7. Apologies, I was led to believe that the fuel senders and brake discs were being replaced with the same new parts ?

  8. I can see how you would make that mistake Wozfast, when you read that some people have had their fuel senders for example, replaced more than once, obviously we are wrong, the upgraded parts must be failing.

  9. This forum is taking a worrying new turn, people are openly declaring their love for each other, now if you really want to ruin a bikes reputation

  10. That means absolutely nothing.

It is entirely possible (nay certain) that some part numbers have been manufactured but within a specific production run a fault has been introduced due to a defect in the material or process used, and then later corrected. So the part in itself should be sound if it was made correctly without further revision. You then run QA across the part but even there is no guarantee that a faulty part will be identified until it's actually in use. Without being overly scientific about things but one also has to consider that parts fail not least because sometimes shit just happens and stuff fails. You can never catch everything - it's simply impossible. If it was possible we wouldn't need a warranty and consumer law would look quite a bit different.

Point in case. I had a faulty rear suspension unit on my Tracer after 2000 miles - it was corroding around some of the welded joints and was an issue identified by quite a few Tracer owners. It got replaced by the exact same part number under warranty and went on to complete an additional 8000 miles with no issue.

  11. I'm not saying that people shouldn't come on here and share their experiences, good or bad. There is a difference though when rightly or wrongly people with a personal agenda and an axe to grind feel that this is the environment within which to get their issues resolved - because it simply isn't. Posting stuff and slagging off this manufacturer or dealer does not achieve anything toward getting your problem resolved. Of course, it may be that their own agenda is not to get your issue resolved but just troll the forums - in which case we all know not to feed the trolls (which unfortunately is what I'm doing with this very post - although it's interesting that two such individuals that spring to mind haven't decided to take issue or respond to my posts, which isn't totally surprising).

Ducati don't have staff paid to monitor forums and then fire-up the Batman searchlight into the sky over Gotham City as they rush to fix an individuals problem. Their focus is always going to be on evidence they collect from their dealer network and the real (not virtual) customers that can be bothered to engage the dealer, not some internet forum infected by the odd troll without the common sense to actually engage with real life.

What I am saying is that if folk are posting purely because they have an axe to grind then they are harming any valid reason they may have at a legal level. Go talk to a solicitor and tell them what you're posting and they will tell you the same. If you go to the same length that some people have in their postings on here then getting your bike fixed will be the least of your concerns, and you'll be looking to instruct a solicitor to defend a different type of case rather than bring your own case against someone else.

  12. Ffs, you're exactly the troll you describe and I've been deleting my posts because you remind me of a school bully !

  13. Sorry you feel that way but I'm only trying to provide to benefit of my own experience and I'm not sure why you're taking it so personally - I've certainly not made any personal attacks on anyone. I've been there and played it the way some folk have on these forums and all I can tell you that after living to tell the tale it got me nowhere with litigation that rumbled on for nearly 6 years (with is the limit on the statute to make such claims) and cost me nearly £30,000 in legal bills alone and didn't get me a refund or a replacement, and merely an agreement to mutually dispose of the vehicle and split the costs including depreciation, although the interest on the finance did get quashed. By the time my £53,000 motor went to auction it fetched £18,000 and as well as the legal bills we had to split the difference between purchase and sale price 3 ways and come up with the money out of my own pocket. So my own experience cost me almost £40,000 and at the end of it all I didn't even have a car to show for it.

And why was that? Because a judge said that even though I had a valid case that my behaviour was not conducive to reaching a mutually acceptable agreement and implied that I was effectively using blackmailing and strong-arm tactics on the dealer, the finance company and the manufacturer.

If you don't like what you're hearing then I'm not going to apologise for that.

  14. Neither, but as I've also learned is that it's best not for me to state exactly what the make or model was but be assured that it was nothing as bland as either of those manufacturers.
