Congratulations hope you have many a good mile, although I must say I’ve never felt the need to celebrate the purchasing of a new car with the expression of ‘fuck it’! Enjoy
and blow me down, if i didn't just see one drive by this morning. No idea which model, just had the big front grille.
In 20 years, when the batteries are all charged to death, the grills will be recycled into the number one BBQ grill in the world, making George Foreman roll in his grave!
Obviously missing something here. New Vitara or Rav4 look the same, and will be worth something in five years time.
If a battery still has some life at 20 years I might buy an EV, DVLA would have taken my license long before that..
I'm getting it on PCP (first time I've ever bought anything on PCP) so I'm not bothered what it'll be worth in 5 years time as I'll be on to something else by then.
Anyone know how Reeves intends to recover 3 pence per EV mile come 2028? Plus 1.5 pence per mile for PHEVs?
The theory put forward was that the mileage for the tax would be calculated from the mot certificates. Anyone who can make mileage blockers will soon be very rich.
This is quite interesting. https://autovista24.autovistagroup.com/news/how-will-the-uks-pay-per-mile-tax-impact-ev-owners/
My first PHEV had £0 VED. My current one attracts £190. My car has an EV range under 30 miles (real world) that costs me £3.50 in electric (for which I pay 5% VAT). On petrol I can get 40-45 miles/gallon. How the hell they are going to calculate this and more importantly enforce this I do not know.
Would sir like a single cell or a double? That would be fraud and/or attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Most, if not all, EVs are 'connected' so the mileage data is saved and held by the manufacturer where it could be made available to the DVLA....
He he he - and mileage is just the tip of the data iceberg such cars gather https://www.uswitch.com/guides/car-insurance/data-security-in-connected-cars/ https://www.nationwidevehiclecontra...s-know-about-you-connected-car-data-explained
