  3. Carl Fogarty's career was brought to an untimely end by a nasty incident at Phillip Island in 2020 so we'll never know if he would have added more wins to his career total of 59 WSBK wins and anyway, Mr Rea hasn't had the competition of world class riders to challenge his and Kawasaki's domination. 4. Just another real FACT ;)

  5. An opinion not a fact ;)

  6. I was speaking more about that golden period more than the record books.:upyeah:

  7. What particular aspect? Closer races now, more manufacturers involved, more race winners. Or do you mean the Rose Tinted bit

  8. 120,000 fans at Brandshatch for starters, that speaks volumes how very popular it was back then with the paying punters.,but i do agree with todays format with the above many different manufacturers involved, but we do need another Max Biaggi from the top class included for some sparkle & shine for the series to blossom.IMO:upyeah:
Whatever happens it's going tobe a good year for racing for sure.

  9. I was there with Colin when nearly 120,000 fans crammed in at Brands - pretty sure it was after Foggy or it may have been a year or two prior to the record year as I think was 2003 the year of the F-03 999

We had a private HRC garden in front of the grandstand and people were squashed up against the fence on either side - free beer and snacks too.

But anyway - yes we have a cracking years racing ahead unless of said virus... :):upyeah:

  10. That's a very factual fact. :)

In GP's, Doohan won 5 in a row, Rossi's done 5, The GOAT (Marquez) will make it 5 in a row in 2020 and then god know where after that. :upyeah:

  11. Just so many British riders in world superbikes doing the business over the years,it's a real shame we can't have more Brits on the front foot running in Motogp.

  12. If Redding manages to win the title this year (BIF if) it will demonstrate why MGP is dominated by non Brits and sbk by Brits

  13. I think there is way too many "politics" in the way on Motogp front for any quality British rider receiving a top gig,IMO

  14. Ezpeleta rules both MotoGP and WSBK like Ecclestone used to rule F1. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens without his say so. Latest example is Alex Marquez getting the Honda factory ride having never ridden a MotoGP bike ......... just like his brother in 2013. Andy

  15. Agreed,Can you remember the last great British rider in modern times with a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki factory ride.?,because i'm struggling....maybe John Hopkins as half english?

  16. Not so much a Japanese factory but wasnt Crutchlow on a full factory Ducati...

  17. Well spotted and your right, but he only stayed for one season, bagged the 1/3 million quid and moved on.big mistake in my opinion.

  18. Not going to bash Crutchlow but 1 supersport world championship in 2009 doesn’t make him great. There hasn’t been a British 500cc/MotoGP champion since the 70’s with Phil Read and Barry Sheene. Go back further and it’s Mike Hailwood in the 60’s and John Surtees in the 50’s. WSBK and World Supersport however is entirely different and far more successful. Andy

  20. Jonathon Rea faces the usual crap that multiple British winners face, on the way up everyone loves a winner, stay there too long and everyone wants to see you knocked off your throne.
He is the proven best Superbike rider of the last decade, he is still at the top of his game and busting a gut for wins but nobody outside of motorcycling has heard of him. And he still flies Ryanair whenever possible, very much in the guise of Joey Dunlop, and if anybody says they hated him I will hunt you down and punch you in the nuts!
