After a summer ride one of the little pleasures I enjoy is to park my bike on the drive, leave it just sat there, get a cuppa T and just sit and enjoy it. But in the back of my mind I'm wondering who is driving by clocking the bike... Feckers!
Lol, not exactly what I meant, but I wouldn't mind... My Sport Classic would feel a little less lonely
Sorry to hear that Matt and im glad your ok. Ill tell you now they WONT be back. The reason being from the sounds of it they were opportunistic druggies after a few easily sold valuables to get their next fix. The evidence? The thieving twat was probably as scared as you when he saw you come through the door. It really is a shame you didn't catch the fuckwit, you would have won on adrenaline alone. If they had come for the bikes, they would have come tooled up. Sounds like they were using the druggies pool car. Dont worry about the being watched, stalked or them returning, they do in my experience sound like opportunists. It will be worth speaking to your Neighbours to see if any of them had knocks on the door from randoms trying to find an unoccupied house and speak to the Police to see if there has been a spate of burglaries in the area. Beefing up the household security is always a good move though. Hope the five o catch these disrespectful bastards. I'm intrigued though, when you say partner, do you mean girlfriend?
Not yet :frown: they did say a member of CID will likely get in touch with me at the start of next week
Could they be local? have a slow drive around your area this weekend looking for the car, you never know !
Exactly, I very rarely take my bike out and at times when people are not generally about! i.e. early and only once or so a week and to no regular pattern. When I bought my 748SPS I was unloading it from the van when someone came up to me and started saying "I see you have another bike etc. etc." and asked what had happened to the "Red" one. It's amazing what people clock whilst wandering about. He clearly knew exactly what I had and when I used it, quite unnerving really especially as I never leave it outside the house on the driveway but always immediately bring it in so it's exposure is very minimal.
I lived on a main Road through a village many years ago. Often parked the bike on the drive. I came home off nights to see the little Fiat 500 which had been parked right up to the garage door was sideways and the door was partly up. Looked in and the bike had gone. The Police were quick in attending Houe to House enquiries and they caught the Bas**rd afew days later but never got the bike back. My yard cannot be seen from the street now and I never leave the gargae door open but your never going to hide things from those who want to know
When my place was burgled it took a week for the fingerprint guy to turn up. A week! He asked if I'd touched anything...I nearly decked him Many years back at my parents house, my brother had given me a computer, my first, and I put it on the windowsill. At 2am in the morning I heard a rustling outside, but before I could move the window was smashed. Now fully awake, I leapt up to the window and aimed a mighty punch at the object behind the blind, cracking a knuckle in the process. Then I pulled up the blind and was confronted by...a horse! I swear it had a bloody nose, too! I've heard of horse thieves before, but this wasn't what I had in mind...
we had a timber wolf, German Shepard and an utanagen in the house, which you would think was a deterant but any one could walk in to the house no problem.
Sorry about all that. I doubt they'll be back. Why would you go and reburgle a house (there are a lot of other ones, after all) once you'd discovered that it was owned by an aggressive biker with 2 dogs? Why create problems for yourself? If it was their own car, they are amateurs - so you wouldn't expect them back. They will also get caught. If it was a stolen car (more likely, you'd think) they might be bright enough to look for an easier target. Professional burglars are after the maximum reward for the minimum hassle. So are amateur burglars for that matter. So if your house doesn't over index on reward and as the hassle factor of burgling you seems high, there is no reason for the same ones to return. It's all about risk/reward from a burglar's point of view, innit?
