Just Joined As Bought A 749s And Looking For Some Info On Potential Problems

  1. So where do I begin..
    I've bought a 749s 2003 that has sat for about 10 years. I am now trying to get it going but having some problems. I have replaced the wiring to the battery terminals as they were very corroded found some burnt wires fixed them replaced the battery disarmed the alarm to get it to turn over. Now it will turn over on the button but only pops and bangs
    but will not run. I've checked the belt timing and it seems to be OK. Done a compression test 175 and 185 psi has a spark and is getting fuel through the injectors there are no codes coming up on the dash and there are no lights on ?
    Looking for ideas of what could be wrong
     
  2. If the belts are 10 years old you MUST change them asap. Have you used fresh fuel?
     
  3. Yea new belts fitted and fresh fuel

  4. Try the fuel pump relay located behind the battery box. These are located in a very poor location and cause all sorts of strange issues.

  8. While you are at it, relocate it to the front top of the battery box. There's even a little square grommet thing there already - almost like the relay should have been there anyway!
