So just stripped down changed oil, filter, air filter and plugs, removed brake pads, dropped coolant flushed and replaced, Next jib replace brake fluid strip out rear suspension unit check bearing ect, freshen up all body work new rubber.not sure about replacing fork oil any advice welcome will add more pics as I go along.
Brakes are the big weak point on pretty much every gixer produced. Braided lines, good master cylinder, good pads and R5 (iirc) calipers transform it.
I have a fully functional HM Super Lite quick shifter (with loom off a 2012> gixer) if you’re interested?
Braided lines and brembo master cylinder plus brembo pads should help me stop..definitely need to get the suspension set but will wait and get it sorted on a trackday
Just get a mate to start you with the rider sag front and rear, set comp and rebound and 3/4 clicks from max and work from there.
Stripped out rear shocker and linkage bearings all seem fine clean and a grease up,not too sure were the standard setting should be as a starter for setting up suspension.
Update Rear suspension assembly re fitted new brake pads and fresh fluid all round, most of the work on the bike now done apart from the body work which is coated in thick black paint.started sanding down the tank to find a vinyl wrap underneath..have had to scrap it all off before starting to sand down again
Going to see how I go before upgrading calipers..see how I go with brembo master cylinder brembo pads and braided lines
So looking at this colour scheme.just rest of body work to patch up fill and sand down before sending it to a friends for painting
