yep, two years ago with rapidly thickening cataracts and having waited over 18 months for a consultation which wasn't forthcoming i had both eyes done within a month of each other, £2k each eye. It was like being re-born didn't realise how bad they were, i had voluntarily given up driving and riding. You can't mess around with your eyesight.
I was also advised to go and see a laser eye specialists, never actually got there mind, I couldn’t find the shop! X
Reminds me of my old electrician.. Went for a contact lense check up, but forgot to take his glasses ( with contacts they ask you to attend wearing them for the test and then to take them out part way through ) After his test and at the shop counter he was asked to “pop his credit card in the little machine” while the attendant fetched his paperwork.. On her return she asked, “are you ok there sir your looking a little frustrated” “no” he replied “ I can’t seem to get my credit card into your machine!” A little pause before the attendant replied “ well sir, that might be because your trying to insert your card into my desk calculator, the chip and pin is actually over here, next to it!” X
From memory mine was about £2K an eye..... in the street just down from Harley street circa 1987/88. Note I was told "you'll never be able to wear contact lenses, should you need to later in life." A Couple of years back I asked why at an opticians and no one knew why, just learnt wisdom..... It's not true.... I can, but don't because I cannot be arsed to faff around in the mornings poking my eyes.
I had mine done at Ultralase in Guildford many years ago, quite expensive at the time but i did a lot of research first. It was also the days when the internet wasn't brilliant so i had to do it the old fashioned way,i approached my local eye unit in Epsom hospital and asked if it was safe. i got a very good answer from many questions i had at the time and came away feeling that correction was for me. I have had no problems, and the only thing is that i have to wear glasses to read but i am getting older so expected that also.
I had a lens put in my left eye at the Spire Hospital in Elland, two and a half years ago - it cost £2500 but it has been fantastic.
