As above - im getting through issues and this one ive had for quite a few years...doesnt happen all the time....just now and again... Id say about 30% of starts are a lazy slow start. Ive got heavy duty starter cables installed. A good heavy duty Lithium battery along with just recently installed Ultimate regulator/rectifier to match the battery. Im wondering if its the starter motor, and if it is/could be - im guessing theres a notable difference between an OEM and aftermarket - or, is there a better aftermarket option..? Look forward to options/suggestions. Cheers chaps.
I bought a brand spanking new starting motor for my panigale. Guess it was a temu special. Think it did maybe 50 starts and shat itself. Bought a good second hand genuine one and its been fine......
Sounds like OEM is the best way to go....ironically on my SXV theres a lad in Italy that makes starter motors which are twice as durable as the oem....that was my kinda though process...
That being said has anyone else had a lazy start problem and how did they fix it? Edit: Just watched a 10 year old vid on YT - solenoid....?
Cheap punt but i searched for the oem solenoid....about 100 quid give or take for an OEM one....just found a brand new on in the US for 17 quid... 30 quid all in delivered....worth a shot...
I don't know if it's the same for the hyper 1100 but there is an upgraded starter motor for the 821, it's the last mod i need to do, to help with starting. Denso unit.
ooh - thats interesting....dats the kind of attention to detail stuff that i like..! [it looks the same as mine] from a shape point of view... Edit: yeah - pretty generic - fits about 30 odd different duc's Edit edit: ive got one of the old ones....so this is now on my list also! Thanks for the information - thats really good to know... Interesting that he left the gasket sealer to cure for a couple of days...ive never known that...reason i say and its kinda perfect timing i dont think ive got a good seal on my side cases so ill be re-doing both of those when i do this job....
It is apart from the silver bolts and head is ever so slightly different shape. From what I've found on a different ducati forum is to stay away from the taigene brand and go for denso
The bolts arent an issue - do you have a picture of the different shaped head...? so from those 3 part numbers im guessing the higher the part number the newer the part/less use....technically...
Left is original taigene, right is denso. Some have listed hyper 1100 on ebay as fitment as well as 821, 939 and 950. But double check if you do purchase
