Lightened Flywheel

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by ck_uk, Aug 29, 2019.

  1. Right then. Ahem. About these lightened flywheels. I've just bought one for my 1098R. I'm going to go for an engine refresh. HC Pistal pistons and maybe some very light headwork. Don't want to go bananas, the 1098R is a mental missile as is.
Does a lightened flywheel make it a bit snatchy on the throttle pick up??

  2. Hi, no, you will need more throttle and slightly more revs to spin it up to get going but once up and running it will pick revs up quicker through the range, engine braking reduces slightly also but I loved mine on the 996, both road and track, you will stall more often while you get used to it.

  4. I had flatslide cabs and a lightened flywheel on the SS, and they were great fun. Also a great excuse to keep the revs high at standstill.
