Hi guys, new member here shortly will be looking at buying a hypermotard. Just after a bit of advice as to which model to go for. I have a budget of up to £7k, but want something as reliable as possible. Am I better off going for a simpler air cooled like a 796 0r 1100, or would an 821 be a better bet? Being a newer watercooled bike, will the 821 be a better bet or not? I am not looking for something to bonkers on, just a fun toy. If I choose a 796 will I find the power lacking? I have been used to big power superbikes but have calmed down now in old age, so power isn't such an issue. At my budget I imagine that the models I listed (796, 1100, 821) are my main choice, but I have noticed that 1100 models seem to be thin on the ground. Anything in particular I should be aware of on these models? As a final shout out, is anyone within wensible mileage of Mid Wales (Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham) looking to sell? i had a 796 stealth one of the most fun bikes ive ever had, just as quick as the bigger engine ones too point to point.
I agree with cookster, I enjoyed my 796 plenty powerful enough for my rides into Wales. Certainly my mates 821 wasn’t leaving me trailing behind on our rides out. Beware of the seat heights on the 821 onwards they’re very lofty.
I just bought an 1100 as a second bike, Tbh i know nothing about them, Was a spur of the moment purhase and i honestly love it, Its great fun, Bloody comfy aswell, Its a 2010 with 20k on clock and in great condition, Looks so simple to work on
