I've been loving trawling the threads and seeing some excellent builds. I don't thing my 1996 900ss will ever look as good as most of the projects on here. There's some absolute stunners. So far I have: 1: General clean and feckle everywhere 2: Drained tank and carbs. 3: Changed Fuel filter (and had the pleasure of returning the fuel filler cap :-( ) 4: Changed Plugs 5: Cleaned filter 6: Changed belts 7: Fresh fuel 8: New Battery
OK, so I was too excited on the second attempt at starting her after about 5/6 years. 1st turn too ...this time I thought it might be a good idea to plug the starter relay in Much better result. Now that's good old Italian reliability for you
Keep up the good work. I’ve seen worse. Mine . After standing outside under a supposedly waterproof cover for 6 years .
Wow! Thanks for the encouragement. I’ll search you and see how yours is doing. It’ll help me keep the faith
Since I got her going again I’ve been busy riding her so haven’t posted on that thread lately. I plan to strip her right down over the winter so will add to the thread in the spring once it’s all over. I should have copied the link before typing this reply duhhh and I could have pasted it here for you, but go to the Builds & Projects Forum or just search using 748 sleek Good luck with your refurb
Sounds great, you can’t beat a bit of 900ss clutch rattle , I’ve gotten into the habit of pulling up at biker meeting places selecting neutral and keeping the clutch in until I’ve switched off, it saves having to have the “it’s normal mate, it’s a dry clutch, they all do it” conversation every time you stop.
