1200 Pikes Peak Man Down :-(

  1. Glad you are in relatively good shape also!
Just wait until the insurance assessor views the bike. They are so cautious; it will have many more new parts than you may anticipate; wheels, forks, etc. They do like to keep our premiums up :(
If it goes Cat D it will be a good one to buy back :)

  2. I guess both you and the bike could be a lot worse but still rates as a shitty day. Hope you and bike are fit and able soon.

  4. Shit!

Glad you got away with this relatively unscathed. The knee sounds a bit ropey but I'm sure with time and rest you'll be back to full fitness.

  5. Hope the broken ribs aren't giving you too much discomfort. I have heard it can be very painful.
No one wants to their bike damaged and getting a massive bill to get it on trailer probably didn't help.

At least you now have a genuine excuse to buy some carbon for it, lucky bugger.

  9. Try Mib you do not have to go via insurance there as can do claim on your own. Not sure if you have to report it to insurance but you will need police report.

  10. Insurance know about it, why would I need a police report ? No one else was involved ???

edit : Sorry whats Mib ???

  11. Cause it was rubbish on public highway so responsibility of other driver. They would have to investigate to try and find driver (give you crime refrerence) and eventually conclude untraceable driver. Then you claim on Mib for untraceable driver damage

  15. You can order the Ducati Corse badge separately [GRAPHIC DUCATI CORSE - Part No. 43819771A], maybe £10 - £12 so a bit expensive. You might even be able to carefully peel off the one on your original nose. The full parts catalogue is on the Ducati Maintenance web page and you can get an idea of prices from the KFM-Motorräder web site.

Looks like you came off worse than the bike, hope your recovery is as quick as the bike gets fixed.

  16. MIB = Motor Insurers Bureau
All insurance companies contribute to a fund. When you are injured as a result of the actions of an untraceable driver, you can claim for damages from the fund.

    Welcome to MIB

  17. Exactly, do not be shy to do it. You pay for it.

  18. You'll also need to disclose it as an accident on your car and bike insurance for the next 5 years, even if you don't claim.

  19. All done ! Police informed, got a number.

I was more than angry to hear I would have a claim against me even if the insurers haven't had to pay out a penny, takes legalised theft to a whole new level :mad:

  20. That bit of penalising while you have to disclose does not mean your premium will go up. It varies.
