  7. It is possible to keep a matt finish on a bike looking good for many years. In a way it's actually less work than a gloss finish because you can't polish it. There are specialist matt finish cleaning products. The only one I have used is a matt wax.

It all depends how well you tend to look after your bikes. Any scratches can't be polished out so you do need to take care with the bike. I think that you can get a matt finish Venturshield protective film, which would help to protect the finish.

It is entirely possible that after 5+ years and over 25,000 miles the matt finish may be looking a bit tired. At that point you could always get it resprayed in a colour of your choice, which is what I intend to do with my matt black Streetfighter.

  8. Sun eye - the respray route was where I was going in my thought process. Just not sure what the cost is to respray... Have seen on the net forums saying anything from £250 to £1000.

  9. I had a Diavel With the Matt finish, it showed every finger print , mark and scratched soon as look at it. I tried various different Matt specific cleaners, coatings etc. It looked good for about 5 mins before it looked like it needed cleaning again.

  10. Lambert, thanks for that.

  11. I have the Diavel Carbon / red. The carbon is a satin finish rather than matt. Easy to look after and looks awesome when cleaned.

  12. Red and Diavel... I just can't do it.
But no doubt that it looks amazing

  13. Picked up Bruno today! Matt black Diavel. Agree that you see every mark but it got more looks riding home than my 1299s! So so so easy to ride! Where has the Diavel been all my life!

  14. Noticed that Ducati Glasgow have a shop dem Diavel Dark 2017 which has a protective film (3M..?) on the tank and surrounding parts.

  15. In 2004 Honda did a matt black blackbird, one of the biggest complaints was that heavy use areas such as the tank cut outs for your knees, seat panels near your arse and pillion if you had soft luggage or pillion, often became very shiny and after a certian amount of contact you simply could not get those areas back to matt so quite a few matt black bikes were a mixture of matt and shiny
