Mobile Phones That Don't Irritate

  1. Huawei are the best phones.

The rest are shit. Samsung especially, screens are pish

  2. There’s also the consideration of who you are letting manage your data. Apple who won’t give a Backdoor to the device over to the authorities, or Google who monetize your data and only react to privacy notices through fear of bad press.
No way I’d let google anywhere near my personal life - parasites.

  4. I had a tap and type phone a good number of years back, probably my favourite phone.

  5. My 'phone is now doomed!

I just lost it somewhere in the house. "No problem, I'll just ring it from the house 'phone", I thought. So I did. Silence.Took it downstairs to where my washing machine is as I thought that I might of taken it there and left it when I went to collect some washing. Silence. Then I remembered leaving it in my bathroom as I was expecting a call when I went for a slash - as you do. Called it standing right next to it and it worked fine. So, I leave it in the bathroom and call it again from outside. It rings loudly. So the gig seems to be that you can hear it when you know exactly where it is and can't hear it when it is lost! So, bin candidate!

I don't really want to go Apple and so I was wondering about a Google phone - as they effectively control Android. And Google are alright by me as I have Google Drive space from them and they never seem to annoy me - miracle, I know, but DropBox did!

So, anyone got/had a Google phone and what do you think?

  6. I usually buy unlocked mobiles so I can change provider if my current one annoys. Also, when I was contracting, the location of where I was working and staying, might point to a better provider. But the prices of current models has gone eye-watering. This is approaching what I paid for my ST2! The racket of giving, or selling, a cheap phone to tie you to a provider, must be the new way. (I want a large screen)

  7. I’m not the greatest at technology I had a Nokia for years and refused to go Apple
My kids had blackberries and I couldn’t get on with the roller ball thingy
I had a go on a friends apple and thought I like that so after refusing to buy an apple I did and I have never looked back
    It’s easy to use
Yes the battery isn’t the greatest but I would rather be frustrated with the battery than not being able to use the phone.

Have a look at the iPhone SE

  8. Wait for sales, I got a huawei p30 pro last November for £428.50 from o2, usually over £600 odd

  9. I can get an unlocked one for £419. Still pricey but I will think about it as I've never had an Apple phone.

  10. Give it a go, like trying another make of bike !

  11. One day you might find yourself regularly away from plug sockets and needing to use your phone alot. If you still have an Apple, you won't be able to use it 'cause the screen will be black!

The OS is great, but shite batteries render it impractical for real mobile applications.

  12. I refuse to ever go over to Apple as their strategy is to draw you into their world of connectivity between all their various overpriced devices. Sure they're pretty and the OS intuitive. Having said that I'm perfectly happy with Android TBH.

Impending house move has had me looking at Internet options. My chosen provider offers Apple TV free for a while as an inducement on one of it's packages. Piqued my interest until I read that you had to have another Apple device to take full advantage of it... Anyway their business package with static IP, and without the Apple TV option, ticks more boxes.

  16. Hi Perry, I've got a non-Apple phone that I really like and it works on Android 7.0. It's a great thing with good tech spec and does exactly what I want done. Not too expensive either.

You don't say why it gets on your tits that much, but everything on the Android phone can be configured to work the way you want.

    Cheers
    Dave

  17. I lose it in my house and so I ring it from my home phone - silence. When I find it, I try ringing it again and it rings loud and clear. It seems to "know" when it is lost and shuts up. When found it it load and clear. I can't find a setting to make it shut up when lost but ring normally when found!

I think that I may try a Google phone, next.
