Well, finally went for a test ride this afternoon. Hadn't ridden one of these in a long time, but that 1100 engine suit it perfectly. The extra bhp and torque is certainly very noticeable. Wouldn't mind having one of these in my stable. Gratuitous naked shot.
Great work and write up. Very interested in your swingarm solution, please. Looks like the 1100DS has bearings in the swingarm and not the crankcases. I'm thinking the spacing is also different between the swingarms. If its running without any needle bearings, how is wear reduced on the casings? The Monster 1100 engine has the bearings in the engine, just like the old 900SS. It just bolts on, no mods needed.
