Another terrible weekend for Yamaha but Toprak finished 4 seconds behind FQ which i would take as a small win. Millers got to be gone next season at this rate though. As has Vinales.
I thought I heard Hodgson say at the weekend, Vinales was being considered for a ‘factory’ ride I also think you can add Morbidelli, Bastianini, Rins, Mir, and Binder to the list of riders who should be looking over their shoulders. Not a great deal of discussion about tyre wear but again, Aprilia seemed to make the best of what seems a less than ideal solution for high temperature track surfaces. Marc still not fully match fit IMO but COTA will be a better indication of how competitive riders and bikes will be, moving forward. Andy
I know it was a shortened race but one of the riders of the weekend had to be Aldegeur baring in mind he could barely walk once he got off the bike. 8th recovering from a broken femur less than two months ago and only three seconds behind his team mate. None too shabby.
We have a WSB/MGP double header this coming weekend. The time gods are even on our side - Portugal in the mornings/lunchtime and COTA in the afternoon/evenings. Hopefully no nonsense with track conditions either.
The race was only 2/3rds distance. Something to do with track conditions? So tyre wear should not have been a factor. Bagnaia has to be a contender for not having a ride as well. COTA. That will tell us a lot about Marc and about just how good the Aprilia really is this year. Good to see the young riders making progress. Yamaha and Honda riders. How hard should we be on them? They, the Yamaha in particular are not anywhere near competitive. KTM. Is Acosta just riding the wheels off that bike, or are the other riders that bad?
Peccos a three time world champion and signed for Aprilia next year (I think it’s widely accepted). Quite clear he’s not been dealt a good hand unless there’s been something going on in his private life and I’m pretty sure Italian media would have been all over it if so. His biggest problem in this day and age imo is he’s too bland for your *target market.
Yep. I would say agreements are definitely in place for next year at this point but agreements are about as secure as contracts in MGP we all know that much.
