I've commented about axle sliders earlier in the thread and the reason why they are a really bad idea. Added weight is the #1 reason. According to this Amazon page, the weight of the front R&G axle slider is 381g. Try this out as a test (which btw, I have done). Go out for a quick ride. Then, remove your rear mudguard (3 bolts) and go on the same ride. I guarantee you will notice an improvement in suspension responsiveness. ...And that plastic piece does not weigh much. You just may not want to re-install it. If that's not enough of a reason to avoid them then there's: 2) Corrosion magnet as Handtoeknee mentioned. 3) Must be removed to fit your rear paddock stand 4) Cost
