1200 My First Red Bike

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Stonesie, Nov 14, 2015.

  1. Some apparently get on ok with a spring to give the motor some resistance, or I would get a re-map to map it out. I need to speak to someone in the area that knows these bikes to see what to do, I want Cruise control eventually so will need the tuneboy for that, if I can find a tuner that uses it then it makes it easier.

  2. Ah, sounds like you're on top of it! Great. Have a GREAT first ride on it later today!! :) I'm excited for you! :-D

  3. At least I will get to see how good the LED headlights are :upyeah:

  4. W E L L L L ????????? We're waiting! :)

  5. Sorry no pics as it's dark, just got in and I love it. Those headlights make the hi beams look dim.

Slight problem with the neutral switch though, doesn't work when it's hot. But other than that it's great

  6. All you need now is some nice autumn weather. Have fun!

  7. Okay, okay...

Pulled it back out for a quick snap.

  8. Well what a busy day, after tidying the attic and garage I wheeled the bike out and stripped it of most of it's plastics and rear wheel to give it a spray with ACF-50, it's now good to go on any decent winter days.

While it was going back together I fitted a PD oiler and the Panigale led indicators with a Osram LED numberplate light. I took my time and did it right with grease on most of the bolts that went back in and locktite on the others, the old air gun had no issue with that wheel nut either but getting the wheel out was a swine, ended up taking the end can off which revealed that the exhaust valve is jammed open, meh, at least it didn't jam closed but it makes that de-cat all the more tempting. (The standard ones broken dear so I NEED this part to put it right)

All in all, a nice way of getting to know my new bike, and the local kids think it's 'well sick'

  9. It is 'well sick'.

Sweet ride and congrats. Nice to see a bloke who knows how to take care of his Mistress properly!

  10. Seconded. Geoff knows his bikes inside out. Been taking mine to him since 2003. Nobody else touches them :)

  12. Well after quite a lot of not a lot I will be out on it on Sunday, I did spot some gunk on the right fork stanchion but I have finger's and toes crossed that it is just excess ACF-50... If not then 7400 miles is a bloody poor show for a fork seal on such an expensive (Premium?) bike.

Also the Givi top box kit arrived and was fitted, £220 delivered from Italy for a V47NNT, rack, plate and even a back rest pad... Then Bozo the clown here dropped the top box and found out just how easy they are to mark, 90% of the marks are on the replaceable parts so it's just annoying.

  13. Today's musing, I want the Leo Vince de-cat for it's extra silencer and stand-off for the centre stand, but which end cans will fit it?
I like the look of the Arrow dark and was just going to buy their full system but don't like the idea of the stand clattering against the pipework, in the long run it could damage the stainless pipe, they do another de-cat like the Leo but the little diagrams indicate that their racing end cans won't work with it.

I don't want something that wakes the dead, and do want to do some touring without having a massive headache.

  14. What did you go for in the end ? I like the look of the Arrow dark

  15. I found a Leo Vince carbon end can on eBay in great condition and local so i bought that and the LV decat to match it, bike gets mapped next week.

I still like the look pf the Arrow though and am pretty sure someone on here has one.

  16. You've done well there, the LV gets great reviews. Whose mapping it ?

I've been offered a new black carbon Arrow system from Italy for £650 that I'm pondering over. I'm not sure if the Arrow has a removable db killer. I like it loud

  17. The Arrow will have the removable baffle/DB killer and they do sound nice on Youtube. Not heard one in person on a Multi though.

As for the tuning, CJS in Bristol, even though he is 200 miles away of mainly motorway riding he seems to be considered the master at tuning these bikes. So it will be in safe hands and should make it better to ride.
