That's unusual - The Police making a mistake... Glad your folks are OK I really would suggest getting a big Dog as probably one of the best deterent's - with DOG Signs on gate etc. We had a similar incident a 12 years ago - always had rotties - we had lost the previous one - and we had 3 guys try kicking in front door - to get garage keys to steal bikes - my little dog barked and must have scared them off the break in - but they just broke into garage anyhow - middle day - neighbour saw them but was to frightened to do anything.. Hope your parents are not too frightened after the incident. As for the car its just metal -- the annoying thing is the inconvenience and long term premium rises on your insurance..
