  3. i was torn between an rsv4 and a panigale, in the end i went for the panigale cause the front of an rsv4 looks like aids.

but all in all they are epic bikes (i understand yours is the tuono but exxentially the same)

  4. I don't think this bike gives that impression at all - that is my main bugbear with the Panigale. The fairing stops so short that i feel it looks like a cut and shut. The Aprillia design is quite clever in that it flows and looks as one.

    I like it.

I am turned off by the dealer and parts network apparently not being much use but have always liked the bikes. And the noise they make.

Is that the same model @nothingfaced had?

  6. I had the chance of a tuono but didnt as ive already got my RSV4 (the only downside i can see is the valve check interval is, quite often). Lovely bike though....and yeah....the noise is something else, its one of the reasons i keep mine....i couldnt bear to sell it. All mine gets used for is the annual trip to the TT and a few summer days out, but, for that reason it stays in good condition and doesnt cost and arm and a leg to run.

I havent had all the dealer and parts problems....everything ive bought is quite reasonably priced but.....if you need any parts get them before August as when the aprilia factory goes into summer shutdown - forget it if you want something fast....a few years back i ordered the replacement rocker covers (the factory ones are magnesium - there was an upgrade to the part which stopped them leaking which mine were) in April, 2, and 2 gaskets. 1 set turned up 3 months later, then the august shutdown hit so i didnt get the second set til November....

  7. Depending on how mechanically minded you are ive not got the confidence to do a valve check on a v4 engine, or the specialist tools needed to hold the cams (theres a couple of others i think also) but, i stripped my bike down to the top of the engine and then dropped the bike off....that cut the valve check price in half. Most usually pay about 500ish...

  8. Id have one in a heart beat.

  9. I will say this year at the TT there were loads of tuono's (the latest livery) so it looks like the reviews are paying dividends for Aprilia.

  10. Great bike, you'll love it .

Had a Tuono Aprc 2011 a few years back and loved that, apart from the seat was hard as fu#k and the fuel tank on those earlier pre abs Tuonos only just about got me 80 miles :)

All have been fixed on the newer ones so no issues.

Not sure if it's still something you can do, but the butterfly valve on the exhaust normally opens around 4-5k.

If you want the full v4 sound throughout it should just be a spring to remove iirc

  11. Yeah, i know, and will properly be leaving shortly...

  12. See you on the AF1 forum! No reason to leave though...i was ducati-less for about a year but found this is one of the, if not the most active friendly forums ive ever been on.

  13. Hi mate, many thanks for your comments, mine has the dealer fitted aprilia/akrapovic which has deleted both the cat and valve...so happy days sounds incredible.

  14. I've always said the panigale IS the most beautiful bike in the world.

  15. Without a wheely bin, it's just another bike

  16. lol I'll see what i can do to fix that.

  17. I was the other way, I rode the Aprillia and took the Panigale. A lot of that was lack of dealer support close to hand also.

No denying its a nice bike for sure, but just something about the Panigale, the noise, the looks, a bit of theatre if you will. Absolutely no disrespect, but the Aprillia just looks like another sports bike, gawdy paint job etc. But for sure if I had the money, there would be one of these sat next to my Duc.

Let us know how you get on

  18. I had the same view, regarding the dealer/parts issue. so i did some investigating and seems this, like the "all ducati's" are unreliable syndrome had a big effect. i'm being told this was the case a few years ago BUT aprilia have made some major improvements.

    But we will see..

  19. I love the panigale, but didn't want a full on superbike..so i looked at the monster 1200R and reading all the reviews and watching the shootouts etc the tuono always came out on top, tbh i really fancied something a 'shouty and look at me' type bike, i've always had 'plain' colour scheme bikes, never a race rep type thing.
and that v4.. you gotta try one.

  20. Yeah quite... you cant buy taste or class.
