  1. All the crud from the trip cleaned off. Nice and shiny again. What a great bike! 20190629_133741.jpg

  2. Great photos, thanks for sharing :upyeah:

Have always toured with others. Last year did a trip where I met a group in the Vosges. Suprised myself how much I enjoyed the relatively short solo bit.

    Thanks Bumpkin
I have always gone with a mate on previous Europe trips. This was my first solo one and I really enjoyed it. There were times it would have been great to share some of the experiences, but going solo gives you the freedom to do your own thing at your own pace, and none of that frustration if other people have different ideas to yours! I was a little apprehensive doing it solo for the first time as my mate usually does all the organising and route planning and I just follow and enjoy the view. This time it was all down to me and it was great fun actually and all my plans worked just fine. It definitely felt like more of an adventure doing it solo. Perhaps I won't phone my mate next time:laughing: The map shows my route, although I changed it slightly after doing that.

  7. Solo I’d be scared of having mechanical issues or coming off and not having anyone to help. I need to man up I think :)

  8. I have a bike track fitted, apperently if ya bike is down for more than a few minutes, they call you and if no reply, they send emergency services to your location..
Sounds good... Never found out if it works or not!!!
As for a break down , as long as you have cover and phone signal , you might have to wait a while but it will be sorted..
On lonely roads with no traffic it could be a prob but sooner or later someone will happen by and stop to help... Make sure ya bike is well prepped and the rest is luck..

  9. Great part of the world to ride. I've done the north of Spain a few times with friends - it really is excellent.
Looks like you had a great time albeit a little wet at one point.

  10. Yes I had a fantastic time thanks. Only about four hours of rain, otherwise sun and 25 to 30 degrees. As you say a great place to ride. Cant wait to do it again!

  11. What camera kit did you use?

  12. Everything was on my phone.

  13. Some fantastic pictures !
I did pretty much the same trip 18 months ago although not on a Ducati.
The trip was planned when we had a couple of good weeks weather in February then the beast from the east hit down to -6 a couple of days.
The scenery and roads were brilliant can't wait to repeat the trip on the Multistrada hopefully in better weather.

  14. Solo riding is a different and enjoyable experience. As you say you can make your own pace and stop when you like. I've tended to this to get to places to meet up with others or head home after a meet up (like the EMM). It always feels like a bit of an adventure or mission though.

When I did ride a long trip on my own it was OK, BUT I did missed the shared experience of recounting the day over a beer in the evening. That said it was a fair few years ago and I'd probably be more easily entertained with an iPad and Netflix in my lonely hotel room.

  15. A great part of the world for bike trips. Check out Duncan Goughs book either paper or ebooks he specialises in that area of Spain, some of the places he mentioned you'd never find without his guidance

  16. Yes:upyeah: I've read some of his books. I actually based some of my routes on his suggestions.

  17. I admire anyone who can do this alone. I can barely manage a day riding out in wales on my own, find solo riding tedious. May be I need to force myself to do something like this.

  18. I thought that Bradders ,always done overseas trips in groups, but did N260 last year on me todd loved it ,i did ride with a couple of local lads in one bit who i met in a fuel station and offered to show me a twistie route ,that was great ,so you always meet people along the way .Oh and i met the family on a beach so best of both worlds ,but do it ,i loved riding my own ride .

  19. I found that too. Its surprising how you seem to meet more people when your solo. I like riding with others and on my own. But always fancied doing a solo trip abroad. It was a great experience, and felt like more of an adventure. I'm already planning another one to Spain next year, and also doing one to Italy with a mate. So a bit of both!
