  2. That's interesting, I’ve always backed it up before running registry cleaner but never had a problem, are the problems related to a version of windows or all ?

  3. Various claims of doom following the use of said software... They must be related to Win7 or later as theres not many surely still using 3.1 XP etc?

Unless there is a significant gain from using these things, it hardly seems worth the risk? Plus I would expect Windows to have included something similar and sent it to all of us, if it were required?

  4. If I’m right registry problems can occur when uninstalling software and it isn’t properly ‘cleaned’. All the software does I believe is look for this sort of issue and correct it.
PC’s I’ve owned with windows installed definitely get slower, the best fix seems to be to reinstall windows.
When it’s me using the pc I run Ubuntu from a USB hard drive. No particular reason I just prefer it.

  5. I use Netflix on my phone and my tele
I never log out of either

  6. So the endless Win 10 updates don't take care of this? I would have thought they did...

  7. perhaps.
    Ours is windows 7 o_O

  8. I have had emails saying that my monthly payment hasn’t been payed and that my Netflix account will be closed
    Not from Netflix

  9. On January 14th 2020 Windows 7 support will end and Microsoft will cut off all support. Might be time for a change?

  10. CCleaner is the sanitised name of the original 'CrapCleaner' In over 10 yrs of using it, I've believed it's a good-un, but always good to be cautious...
    +1 for Ubuntu-on-a-stick:upyeah:

  11. probably wait and see how it goes.

still use XP machines at work, no problems with them yet.

  12. The endless Windoze updates are part of the problem... Endless patches & fixes do not make a good system.

  13. Is the upgrade to Win10 not available for a pound or something with a free juicer?

  14. Just checked I did get an email to say that my account was used for smart tv
    Which it was

Here is the address it was from

  15. it was for a while, think it’s stopped now.

Free stuff though ? I’ll have to have another look :):)

  16. I remember my early Windows system 3.1 used to crash often, but no often enough to put me off or onto Apple. Over the years the problem has gradually gone away. My laptop doesn't crash and i only know what the blue screen of death is because the name is so descriptive. You are probably right and a better system could be made, but in practical terms it really doesn't affect me.

  17. Nah they lost the election. Free stuff now is limited to strike bans and old women reading notes in the House of Lords. Oh and an introductory offfer to chlorinated ebola chicken!

  18. Windows is better than it used to be for sure (we used to call it PC Handbrake) but I still keep a usb stick with Linux on, just in case

  19. Really? I suppose I should have a Linux as well. Is it like a Jaguar or a Lexus?
