1200 DVT New Dvt Collected Today :)

  1. No, I'm afraid they are bog ugly, even if I bought a bike post 2017, I'd rather stick em on temporary for the MOT! :p

  2. One of my bolts has just come out too, mentioned it at the dealers while getting the first service done today and he's putting a warranty claim in for a new foot. Try your dealer.

  3. That was my initial train of thought. But imagine being involved in a RTA (with a 2017 onwards bike) whereby you're carted off to A&E and your bike's taken to the impound. Insurance check the bike over and see there's something removed that is a 'safety' factor that they could use to mitigate your claim...
They'll try ANYTHING in the book to get out of coughing up:Bookworm:
USA's had them for decades, we'll get used to them eventually!

  4. I'll take my chances thanks. :)
Should I think twice about fitting that satnav to my bike too, in case it's cited as a contributer to an accident?

  5. Never happen. Imagine being in an accident and having a non std exhaust..or screen...or soke stickers on the bike?!

    Mine will be coming off

  6. Oh to hell with it, I'm going to remove mine while it's non-requirement;)

It's still a real bitch when your insurance get their teeth into you though.

I used GoCompare to insure an Aprilia RSV 1000 Factory once, it asked for 'any modifications... In the drop-down box it had a selection for crash bobbins, someone had fitted them so I selected the option (thinking it would lower my quote). The quote went up from £130 to £280!!! Well they came off (because they're bull***t anyway). Now the bike had Akrapovic tail pipes and I'd fitted a Power Commander, did I tell them? Nah:Finger:
But I knew that if I were subject to a total loss where the bike could be examined, then it was me who could be at a loss .

Now when my DVT-S arrives it's having a full Termi/up-map, will this invalidate my insurance, probably yes. But I can argue in court (if needed) that if anything it made me/the bike more conspicuous to the driver that swiped me out...

These new fork reflectors will be accepted eventually, just like rear reflectors and full-sized number plates...

  7. As much as they protest, unless it was a contributory factor (in which case it tends to be short rather than no payout) they nearly always lose the case if they push it

    Hi Nickshoot
I too have had the the full termi system fitted, and the insurance thing got me thinking also, so earlier this afternoon I phoned my insurance company firstly to inform them if off to Spain for a couple of weeks touring and asked the question if I got the Complete racing exhaust kit with titanium silencer would it invalidate my insurance as its a Ducati performance part and would be fitted by the main dealer, after being put on hold for 10 minutes or so the lady came back and said it's ok with their underwriters but I would have to pay an additional £76.00 for admin, tax etc.
I did emphasise that it is a Complete racing exhaust kit with titanium silencer and there is an increase in bhp , she yep that's ok do you want me to amend your policy ?
Card details were given and jobs a good un
Don't think the rozzers will be too pleased tho lol :p

  9. That's great news Krumper.
I'm assuming the full Termi comes with db killers? If so then it makes sense for insurance companies to recognise the item, especially, as you mention, it's a Ducati Performance part.
Just curious, who's your insurance with?

  10. Yeah it does come with the removable baffle, I've tried it and the volume is a lot quieter but still sound really fruity.
I'm with Hastings Direct been with them for a few years now

  11. Ah, that makes sense. I have said enduro kit, so will avoid adding the fender extender. Thanks for the tip!
