New Here And New To Ducatis

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Wesifumi, Jun 24, 2020.

  1. Well after that energetic intro I’m feeling disappointed now with the bike.
Hopefully once you get her sorted she will redeem herself

  2. Well it appears it may have been the reg rectifier, I have thrown on a used oem one, we will give that a go today.

Will head out with the gf on her fireblade for some grub, hopefully the bike plays ball and restarts when it needs to

I had used it Friday night but by Sunday the battery was kerplunk. This is before fitting reg rec last night

  3. I need to order a new uprated REG rec, it's not all 100% , the battery ( lead acid) needs to warm up it seems , as you with a cold lithium battery . But at least it's starting and somehwat holding a charge .

So seeing as i cleaned lubed and tightened the chain i took her for a spin in the city ( Dublin)

  4. New Reg rec fitted, still not 100% but fuck me, when its good its really good

trackday yesterday , what a machine

When its not acting the maggot it is a fucking glourious thing ( electrical gremlins, now leaking oil or marking its territory)

fully analouge, no bells or whistles, no tyre warmers , rode there and back.

Passed and gapped my mate in 2 sessions on his V4s and he is a great rider ( okay once was under yellow flags) , some of the best track riding i've ever done, if not the best .

heres one for you, the 1098 and the v4s are the same weight, 381lbs or 172.819kgs

The 1098 suspension works so well, i thought i might want a bit more compression but fuck me it's just lush, hard on the brakes in a straight line, trail braking deeper and deeper and you can literally feel it com[pressing more and more as you brake and you know you should be off the brakes by now Wes you twat , the rear just complying and pushing the back tyre into the ground perfectly and hooving me out of bends.

even without a slipper clutch or any do dahs it does not get out of shape , no lock ups , i must have been doing something right.

And, i can't wheelie for shit but there were plenty yesterday , on the power of course.

  5. Had a call from a buddy yesterday who is a dab hand at electrics, he used to make wiring looms for Monstermob Ducati and Alstare Suzuki

anyway , he has directed me to try 4 things

bypass starter solenoid , go direct from battery to starter motor, see if it spins, go direct from battery to engine or frame from negative terminal , see if its a bad earth, take of starter solonoid check terminals for corrosion (valet ) and lastly connect bike/ battery up to a non started car battery

he reckons again, its the battery .

  12. LOL :) a sensible move :upyeah:, enjoy.

  13. 4 places left for portimao in November if any use to you Paul. ?

  14. Oil leak point if seepage weepage found .
One bolt on alternator cover threaded.

Will try one or two longer bolts, see if there is a bit of thread in the depths, make up the difference with washers.

Otherwise it's sealant and dreams until after mugello

  15. Not my scene for fear of it becoming an expensive hobby :joy:. Let us know how Mugello goes:upyeah:
