Newby With 749 - Pics Of Powder Coating

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by andyholland, Jun 11, 2020.

  1. Hey guys. Newby here!

Thought I'd share a couple pics of some powder coating I've just had done on my rather scabby 2003 749s.

    Enjoy

  12. LSN in Wakefield, Yorkshire.

From memory, they only charged me £45, did all the prep and they've done a cracking job. They do frames, wheels, the lot.

The colour's not 100% match, but I'd told them I wasn't too precious as you can't see much of it when it's all back together.

  13. Hammerite for the reservoir caps next :)

  14. Hi and welcome. I love a scabby bike. It means that you can use it. Be careful not to make it too nice.

  15. You could use it as a tripod floor lamp like another member from here, welcome aboard.:upyeah:

  16. Welcome to the forum

  17. How on earth did it get that bad in the first place? Nice recovery though chap and welcome

  18. Hi Andy and welcome to the forum. I’m just up the road from you in Rastrick. There’s a decent company in Halifax called specialised coatings. We use them a lot for work, in fact, they’re powder coating my new paddock stand which I managed to sneak in. :)

  19. Literally up the road, I'm in Briggus. I'll give them a go next time, I tried a couple companies in HX and in Brighouse, they all said they'd coat it, but not do the prep (apparently their blasting facilities were too powerful!).

  20. I'd love to say it wasn't due to neglect, but it'd be a lie!

The bike has been in a shed for the past 5 years, but prior to that I commuted on it all year round, so it had become a little shabby already, then I removed it to find someone to powder coat it and left it outside me house for a number of months :astonished:

The engine casing is all peeled and furry too, but that's a problem for the future, just trying to get it ridable and slightly less shabby for now!
