  1. Its due for its big service in the the next couple of months so will mention it to them when they do it. Is the starter motor a serviceable item ?

Always a good idea to pull in the clutch whilst starting as:

    a) this, as far as I am aware ,removes the extra load of the gearbox
    b) prevents the bike jumping forwards and resulting in inevitable damage should the bike accidentally be still in a gear for any reason.

  3. You could have had a partial short in one of the cells and moving the bike may have disturbed the debris allowing full power again

  4. Great outcome Steve !

  5. Starter is non servicable me thinks,

  6. Officially, maybe. There isnt much to them and it doesnt take long to whip it to bits.Clean out, check brushes Roberts your mothers brother...:upyeah:

  7. Had a similar problem on my 848 a while ago. Even called the AA out to help. Turned out that the bike was actually in gear even though the neutral light was on. A quick rock back and forward on its wheels and a click up and down the gears sorted it out, thankfully before we had taken the fairing off to get to the battery.

  8. Thats is what seems to have happened with mine. Unable to find any other fault. Never had a false neutral before however.

    Regards Steve
