do whatever you want, if you ditch the stock plate and guard then don't ride in the wet, you get covered in crap off the tyre...;-)
I used https://www.myshowplates.com/ last time. Number plate arrived next day. The crazy thing was that my local motorbike shop - V-Ten - could only do me a standard plate and needed V5 plus proof of address. Nothing needed like that on-line because they are 'show' plates. Crazy.
