  1. Well...

    1. Hamilton
    2. Rosberg

There really isn't more to it than that...

Unless it was found that Hamilton has been cheating, then he is obviously the more deserving champion, as he is the champion according to current rules... All other statistics are completely meaningless.

Now I would love to see Rosberg a champion, and I don't really care for Hamilton the smug twit being a champion. But unfortunately Rosberg wasn't good enough

  2. Rosberg just cudn't wear de chain of office lik wat lewie can cos he de Man.

  3. Hamilton also had 3 DNFs vs Rosberg's 2 (although you could claim that Rosberg had a DNF in the last race, seeing as he had a wounded car that couldn't garner any points).
Also is it not so that Rosberg stuffed up Hamilton's qualifying in Monaco? Bearing in mind that you can't overtake at Monaco, stuffing up your opponent's qualifying is about the best thing you can do to help you win the race.It wasn't very sportsmanlike.

Still don't know why people dislike Hamilton so much. Now Vettel, he really is a smug twat (though latterly hasn't had much to be smug about).

What is obvious is that the differences in the cars is huge, whereas the differences in the drivers is slight. Red Bull did have the dominant car, so Vettel just had to be better than Webber, which it appears he is. Now that the Red Bull is non-competitive, Vettel is nowhere. Similarly, Alonso could always win when Ferrari was the dominant car (he's better than Barichello). Button won his world championship when the Braun had a technological edge over the competition for the first few races (intelligent rule interpretation). By the time they caught up, modifying their cars in the same way, he was uncatchable. But I don't think you could ever say he's the fastest driver in the paddock.
Similarly, now that the Merc is the dominant car, Hamilton just needs to be better than Rosberg. He isn't much, but he probably is a little bit - enough to win the season.
So who'd win if they all had the same car? Hard to say, but you suspect that Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso would be in the mix, with Rosberg too, no doubt and maybe even Ricciardo or Bottas. Like I say, there isn't much to choose between them.

  4. I think historically it has always been the best car ( the one that has interpreted / bent the rules better ) than has won the drivers championship.

  5. Button isn't keen on sportscar driving.

  7. Interesting comment - But Damon Hill WAS world champion...

  8. Not to mention Hayden and Stoner.

  9. Erm...think I did mention them ;)

In that being a world champion doe st mean you are a world class RACER

It can mean you are a world class DRIVER

  10. I said it before - don't post to me through corners :Hilarious:

  12. this is just what the sport needed, whether they can do it consistently is another matter.

  13. indeed, another Mercedes victory would have been disastrous...looks like Bernie fixed it again!!

  14. Hey Lewis - what does the back of Seb's Ferrari look like ?
Oh, sorry, you never got close enough to find out !
    FORZA !

  15. although another boring race day it did show some potential for a good season.

  16. With Moto GP on, there was really no good reason to watch the F1. It's a fall-back option.

  17. Talking to one of Mclaren's engineers yesterday, and he's saying that generally the team are pretty upbeat about their chances. The new engine is very strong apparently, but has side issues (he mentioned overheating among other things) that are stopping them from opening the taps fully at the moment. They're running a rev limit several thousand rpm shorter than anyone else.

  18. He only used to see them during lapping overtakes :)

I'm glad Ferrari are putting up some competition at last to Mercedes but suspect the ultra high temperatures mean that this performance won't be repeated too often.

McLaren - Something must be promising for them Figs as even Alonso seems pretty positive about the future. Let's hope it doesn't take too long to unleash that good chassis. They were both catching the Red Bulls at one stage (they are in a mess also!).

MOTOGP - Did you see that the Ducati was hitting 355 kph on the straights, that's 221mph!!!!
