The only time I went to an F1 (Silverstone) it was so boring and incomprehensible trackside (like watching motorway traffic) that I repaired to the hospitality bus and watched it on the TV there, drinking wine and eating canapés. At least you could fathom out what was going on and saw more of the cars. It was basically a very dull experience.
Highly intuitive words from S. Perry at tail end of China coverage. That Mclaren is a sack 'o $#!# so far
No chance of Renault catching the mercs anytime soon I've heard on the grapevine the mercs have a nice little 100 bhp switch they aint even using yet , dull and boring and for me fixed
Lewis and Nico on a methane-rich post-race diet using direct feed with S.S.V. (spontaneous sphincter valve) release?
I won a competition in the telegraph a few years back, and went to Silverstone for the weekend, as a guest of Paul Stewart racing (tells you how long ago). Jackie around as well, now that was interesting, especially when they bring the drivers out in between sessions to brief the guests. An all round great weekend as an experience but my highlight was walking amongst the cars in the paddock from the 50s & 60s as they went to and from the track for the Saturday historic races. People walking along scattering like nine pins as a car was going through, stopping for no one at about 40mph. A petrol heads dream. Fantastic. Smells, sounds and sights. Never been to an F1 race since.....
F1 bores me. Perhaps if they had knives or spikes coming out of the wheels it would spice things up a bit
Wasn't the greatest race yesterday, but nice to see a different team at the front. I still like F1 :Sorry:
They'd get through an MOT.......... at about 35mph, without stopping, passing go or collecting your certificate.
Only managed to catch the highlights when Auntie eventually uploaded it to the iplayer last night. Nasty crash for KR, but what a great result for the Brits. British drivers win and get fourth, three British teams in the first five places and the championship is alive again May even have to get a ticket for next year at this rate
Never been to an F1 race, but I've been to a few tyre tests and they were impressive enough. We used to get two tickets for the British grand prix every year, pit passes, grandstands and everything, but they were worth so much that every one of my workmates at Mclaren sold the tickets on every year. I'd have half a dozen people ringing me up for weeks before the race to buy my tickets. I bought an FZ750 on the proceeds one year...
Saw an F1 race at Silverstone 25 years ago. Track is flat and fast and wide so for a spectator, totally dull.
A very entertaining race. After Hamilton cocked up so badly in qualifying it was great that he's now back in contention and Rosberg got a bit of Hamilton's (bad) luck. Vettels overtake on Alonso was stunning and Bottas had a fantastic drive. There are two races in one; The Mercedes battle for the Championships and then the others fighting a remarkably close best of rest competition. Great stuff!
Went to the Singapore Round last year and going again this year. Its completely different to Silverstone and tracks like that. You can get very close to the action and they put on a fantastic show. No queuing straight in.
Hamilton did a great job, pit lane to competing for the win with 10 laps left. And resisting being told to slow down and let Rosberg pass...its racing not knitting. I think the idea should be, if anyone gets more than a 15 second lead, bring out the pace car for 5 laps, bunch em up and let em go
Ive pretty much missed the last two races which has been annoying, but im sure i'll iplayer the highlights of this one at some point this week. The whole team orders thing is rubbish, especially when the title is on the line. LH did the right thing
F1 drivers seem to do a lot of talking when racing, do they get bored? I think Nascar drivers have a chat with the TV commentators when the race is a bit quiet. Hamilton could do a few tweets or a live 'fan phone in'. I am sure there is the odd chat about the holidays or which of the sponsorship girls are going to the after race party.
