The first two were new , the PP had 4k on it. It has always burnt a bit of oil , however it has increased over the years. When new to me it used about 250 ml on a 2500 trip to Austria. Just got back from Spain circa 1800 miles and it used a litre. It gets a bit sutty on the end of the termi but it always has. I guess not having it since new makes it inconclusive about the running in process having an affect , though AI explanation does mention the remaking in procedure could have an effect. I am convinced that the spirited riding up and down the box is where mine likes to use it. I’ve registered use on motorways and it’s not using it doing that. The question is how do I fix it …
If it helps, my current 1260 is second hand and consumes oil, my previous 1260 was brand new and I followed the usual break in period steps (within reason) and that also consumed oil. So I doubt the breakin has much, if anything to do with long term oil consumption. I really do think it's related to the contextual conditions on a per ride basis rather than 'this model does x, that model does y'.
