  1. Referring to a modern cruise ship as a "skip" is like referring to a five star hotel as "a shed"...

  2. What? So a five star hotel is not a shed? I can get that as I would always prefer to stay in a hotel than shed. But a skip can be useful for dumping your rubbish, whereas a cruise ship....?

  3. We’ve done two cruises.
The first was to the Galapagos and our ship had.... 16 passengers. It was brilliant and we are still in contact with one Australian couple we met there.

The second was the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica on an ex Russian exploration ship, 100 passengers. Absolutely the best experience of my life, once you have seen a colony of 50,000 king penguins then it’s hard to find things to beat that... oh, apart from when we were in a zodiac and 6 humpback whales were feeding all around us!

(However I would never go on one of the big ‘traditional’ cruises)

  4. Fair play, some nice pictures there.

I’ve been offshore oil and gas industry for many years now. One rich experience I’ll take from it is the marine life I’ve witnessed. Some really breathtaking stuff. Sadly very little captured on camera. Ah well.

As for cruises? Not a chance... besides, the Mrs ain’t no sailor. Goes green before we get out the harbour.
