Parking ticket issued by City of London, but its wrong

  1. Do nothing. They will not be able to track you down by the registration number if it is recorded wrongly and even if they do employ MI6 to track you down (after all you are a heinous criminal!!) just deny the bike was there and that you have never seen a parking ticket attached to your bike. With that many hurdles and inconsistencies they will just bin it on the basis that they are likely to suffer a financial loss pursuing it. After all that is what it is all about really:biggrin:

  5. What would have happened if the wind had blown the ticket away, or some kids had nicked it?
The ticket issuer would follow up non-payment with a letter to the registered keeper. But if they have incorrect vehicle description, they will not be able to get those details. In this case it will be lost cause and the ticket cancelled.

You're better off keeping quiet and waiting for (no) letter to drop through your mailbox.

  6. Do nothing they can't trace you with a non existent number plate

  7. For all you know, some scrote took the ticket off of his bike (with the reg and colour quoted on the ticket) and stuck it on your bike!

    Well, sort of!

  8. Ok wait for something in post. If it arrives with photos, same wrong plate no point out it was not you as plates do not match and ask for more photos showing plate no of your bike, where it was parked (road sign or something to identify you even parked illegally) and photo showing parking restriction rules (double red, double yellow or sign). From my experience parking wardens work on numbers so they shoot photos but often questionable quality, not showing where your bike was parked (so can not prove it was illegal) or not showing there are visible parking restrictions.
I appeal and win over half my fines. In 3y got 10 fines and paid two. Both paid in Westminster they know their shit.

  10. Thanks for the heads up. Just did that, but there is nothing on their system. I fully understand the theory about not paying and ignoring it as the reg and colour are both wrong. If they have a photo and that is the important word, if, they should have my reg and will therefore send me a letter ie £130 fine. I was thinking about appealing under the theory that the ticket is invalid ie wrong plate and wrong colour

  11. I always wait for them to contact me and appeal first time saying I did not have any ticket on my bike when I came along, I apologise and ask for 50% discount to be applied again and then pay. Always get it reduced again. Worth a risk for me and my ego ;P

  12. The photo is no good to them without a valid PCN, you can't be done on the strength of a photo alone. Ignore it Matt; don't bother contacting them until/if they contact you, but keep the PCN as proof. I had the same, the hitler youth wrote a couple of digits the wrong way round, but I rang the payment line to pay it, got through to an operator and he said ignore it, the PCN wasn't valid.

  13. As Fig says, ignore it. Deal with any letter if and when it arrives which appears unlikely. In which case, you can also challenge the £130 fine as you have never been given the opportunity to pay the fine at the lower rate despite attempts to do so via the automated phone system.

  14. My wife received a ticket in the post from when we were in Camden.
She said she doesn't remember parking illegally. They said they usually photo it but not in this case so dropped it.

  15. Well unless your name and address is on the front of your bike they wouldn't know where to send it !
