  1. Meanwhile, my (checks notes) “working” cocker spaniel, bred from dozens of field trial champions on both sides, was last week cowering in fear behind my legs when he encountered a baby rabbit in Pets at Home. The strange thing is though, is that he’ll fight any dog of any size, but has always been afraid of rabbits (mice too) : unamused::laughing:

  2. Our American Bulldog is soft as shite too, the worst you'd get from her is a nasty lick, but because of her size and this XL bully ban she's had to be exempted with DEFRA and has to wear a muzzle when we take her out, which makes her look vicious when she absolutely isn't.

  3. Unlike my sweet, soft hound who is always keen to be pals with felines. This isn't always well received though with an occasional swat to the nose in return for his friendly enquiry. He's not put off by this though. He's even sat, without restraint, and had a meeting with a bold fox before too.

  4. My friend has one (American Bully) and she’s daft as fook too.

Shame that docile, well cared for dogs get lumped into the muzzle business.

  5. Yeah, badgers have sharp claws, reputedly able to dig through chalk, along with seriously strong jaws. Combine that with 20 lbs of stocky power & you have one fearsome opponent. Definitely best to just doff your cap and let 'em go on their way.

As for the Staffie, any of the old aggressive tendencies have been breed out & as you say most are gentle chilled out guys with any remaining gameness showing itself as stubbornness. Hard heads mind, so don't 'em jump up at you when you're sitting down as they'll knock your teeth out.... :D

  6. Lovely dogs. Every one I’ve ever encountered has been super friendly. Unfortunately they’re super powerful and have an undeserving reputation. Bit like staffies…

Immediately prior to the ceremonial Trooping of the Shoe, where he will trot around the house in the manner of a dressage horse, proud as Punch, showing it off to everyone. I’d love to know what goes on in their heads!

  10. Yeah my brothers had 2 Staffies, completely different personalities as one is a bag of energy that can go for days of non-stop fuss seeking, the other a gentle boy who didnt care what went on around him - but I would trust them 100% as neither would hurt anyone or anything

  11. At first glance this might look impressive..But ... the idea is to keep the sheep between the dog and handler. This was our Nell being a proper Nancy by keeping as close to me and as far away from the sheep as possible. I literally couldn't drag her anywhere near them : unamused:

  12. There's a couple in town who have a miniature bull terrier who is an absolute cracker. His name is Walter and he's a brindle full of happy spirit. Although still young he hasn't yet developed the self contained independent personality and stubbornness, well ok then obstinacy, that are marks of the breed. But it's the latter alongside their distinctive looks that make them such characters.

You don't seem many of them about let alone a miniature one. The photo isn't of Walter.
