  1. @Chiff69 did you just buy that 748R? Looks familiar.

  2. Yeah brought it a week ago, off fleabay,
Always wanted one, this was cheap as it’s a cat insurance write off back in 2002

  3. I saw that, looked fairly reasonable - any evidence of more serious damage than described in the ad?
I see the frame has been painted and it has a fake Ohlins steering damper.

  4. No mate, it’s ok! Although I didint realise the dampener wasn’t Ohlins

got pictures of the bike from 2002 sowing the damage and it was fairing scrapes and broken mirror.

I’m on the look out then for Dampener

some 10 spoke wheels like off the 848

  5. Naah...don’t get the billy basic 848 wheels - they are not very light. If you want that sort of 8 spoke wheel your best bet is forged ones from a Hypermotard 1100S although you’ll need to sort brake discs and a speedo drive.
Not sure if 748R came with an Ohlins steering damper - as far as I am aware bikes at that time came with a variety of mix n match forks/dampers etc. I’m sure somebody more knowledgeable will be along shortly to confirm.

  6. 2002MY came with full Ohlins suspension, the previous model came with Ohlins forks and Showa rear shock. Colour coded wing mirrors and Ohlins steering damper were part of the DP accessories catalogue which could be specfied at extra cost. From the middle of 2002, some Dealers started to offer colour coded mirrors and Ohlins steering damper for free as a deal sweetener to shift bikes that were hanging around. IIRC, the last few UK bikes were delivered in calendar Q2, 2002. Andy

  11. What wheels are these boys?

  12. Those are aftermarket Marchesini Forged Ally I think. Pretty sure somebody on here had some on their bike?

  13. 848, possibly 848 Evo SE. Your picture is of a heavily modified bike. The monoposta seat is the race version to fit that 54mm exhaust and what looks like an under seat crank case breather. Andy

  14. Looked very like the pictures I found of the Evo SE but happy to put my hand up if wrong :upyeah: Given the significant investment in the bike in that picture, could well be. Andy
