Pistorius...todays The Day

  1. If accused I don't think he will get anywhere near the maximum sentence. Not long now, unless they have more breaks of course!!!

  2. It was implied that with some 30 odd charges to deal with, you are only likely to get the whole verdict tomorrow.

Just in case you still wanted to do anything useful today...

  3. Wonder if they've confiscated his race legs and replaced them with victorian style prosthetics to minimize flight risk.

  4. He would have to flap those legs very hard indeed to fly.rather like chicken run.

  5. Major douf douf moment then..tune in tomorrow folks

  6. I still wouldn't like him as my next door neighbour, whatever the outcome.

  7. Finally found him guilty of something. Culpable Homicide

  8. but not guilty of everything else so far...apparently firing thru your sunroof in a urban area isnt a crime...

  9. Thought it said he was found guilty of discharging a firearm in the restaurant?

  10. According to the Beeb, culpable homicide in South Africa is what we call manslaughter in the UK. It carries a maximum tariff of 15 yrs in SA, no minimum. Sentencing will be interesting.

  11. He'll walk, no pun intended

  12. Just taken from the BBC website:

It leaves the disgraced sprinter facing a jail sentence of up to 15 years, although legal experts suggest seven to 10 years is more likely when sentence is passed in a couple of weeks.

  13. so, will he go to the slammer now while they agree sentencing, like mere mortals, or be allowed to leave court?

Can't have it on in the background today, need to concentrate and make calls..

  14. There's now a debate going on as he's recently sold both his properties, as to whether he will skip (no pun intentended) the country on the proceeds.

  15. or declare bankrupt so family cant get compensation?

  16. If he does get sent down, without his legs, he's the perfect height ;-)

  17. perhaps he'll do a runner (every pun intended!)

  18. I think he's getting quite lenient treatment. Whatever the real facts, he has admitted to firing multiple dum dum bullets through a closed door into a small space with the aim of hitting whoever was behind it. How is that not an intent to kill? He wasn't using a pea shooter.
Manslaughter is surely killing someone without intending to.
What he is surely admitting to is that he did intend to kill someone, just not his girlfriend so as he did kill his girlfriend it must be manslaughter. All very odd but then no doubt RSA is an odd place.

  19. Seems culpable homicide isn't quite the same as manslaughter
