  4. Had a session with a guy at Snett when I bought my k5 1000. Told him what I was trying to do. We went out. He came back and his feedback was ‘fuck me we were flying! Nothing came past did it?! And you’re leaving black lines out of every turn!’ Pretty girl walks past, he ignores me and wanders off chatting her up.

    made me realise why you pay for tuition :upyeah:

  5. as mentioned road bikes are getting so fast now anyone can go buy a 200bhp superbike and turn up at a track day thinking there Barry Sheene with little or no skill.

Other than to express my sorrow at the loss of life, I was trying to refrain from contributing to this thread because I am very strongly opinionated about one major UK track day provider who I will never ride with but that is by the by. The worst days I have ever had on a track days in the UK have been the Ducati days managed by the now defunct California Superbike School. Absolutely the most amateurish organised days I have had the misfortune to go on. Andy

    If NL wants to ban pro-racers from attending track days, is very easy for them to check the ACU database for license status. Not saying is something they should or should not do.

  15. If any of you guys are ever on a day I'm on and not feeling confident/a little shakey or whatever, it's absolutely never a problem for me to spin some laps with you.

    I'm not Peter Hickman, but I'm happy to help where I can

  19. I would have thought it would be quite easy to look at your booking records and see that if the last 10 bookings have all been fast group then why are you entering Inters.

    I've had a few times being let out the pits, checking over my shoulder and thinking the Marshall should have made me wait 10 seconds, especially at Donny where the fast guys cross the white line of pit exit and it's very short.

    Due to Covid and lack of track time for the racers with the meetings starting soon, having a 4th group for racers makes sense to me. I'm knackered after 15mins anyway.

    Worst day I did was open pit lane, there were guys there on their first track day with some very fast guys all out together.

Try the Ron Haslam race school at Donnington , ideal if you've never done a track day , you are paired up with the instructor who rides in front , he has the mirrors , if a faster rider is behind , he puts his left arm out , you move to the left , you set the pace if you press him , he will go faster , if your lagging he will slow down , last time I did it , I lapped everybody in my group , you do 2 twenty minute track sessions , after the track you spend an hour in the car park , doing stoppies , learning to round corners with no hands , getting your knee down , Squaring off a corner, they provide the bikes and all the leathers , no danger of smashing your own bike up .
