Poppies

  1. Anybody see the Duraluminam ones allegedly made from old Spitfires about 40-50 notes, must admit I was tempted

  2. In our English town, we do it twice (unless the 11th falls on a sunday of course). Whole main street blocked off and several hundred people attend each ceremony. Dad (now 94 and a '39-'45 veteran) was very moved, having just moved here this year.
Personally, I wear my poppy all year round and donate several times without necessarily taking a new poppy. I think lots of people do that now. You can get undated enamel poppies from RBL (bought 2 only last week from thier website). FWiW I think anything that raises more money and raises the profile of the fund is a good thing, and if widening the range of ways you can wear your respect helps, then that's a good thing too. So what if some like to bling it up ? So long as they donate.
