  1. I’m totally with you in the PDK camp. It’s absolutely superb.

  2. I need to do a driving experience...

  3. Treat yourself, it’s a mega day out. You can even request @andyb as instructor!!

  5. What’s the damage excess.....

  6. You won’t crash. I promise :):upyeah:

  7. pay and do it in a proper car......:punch:;) or do a mix of manual and pdk... 2 wheel v 4 wheel.. options are endless.

  8. Waiting for my Panigale to sell and I will be dipping my toe into Porsche ownership, pdk is a must for me , am I right in thinking you cannot over Rev the pdk ?

  9. if you hold it in a manual gear you'll get to the rev limiter......

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  10. Been reading a lot about over rev being stored in the ecu, reading on the forums that the pdk doesn’t store over rev, true or false ?

  11. Yes. The money shift is where damage occurs. When you accidentally shift from say 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th :astonished: Typically with a manual box.
The electronics interface with PDK will prevent you venturing into the over rev. There are some silly scenarios where it’s possible to over rev but highly unlikely and rare.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  12. False. The ecu will record over rev ignitions with a PDK. But I’d take it with a pinch of salt. I’ve heard of rev range inaccuracies recorded due to electronic noise. Personally I believe this...

  13. big brother is watching.......although take launch control... as far as i am aware there is nothing stopping you doing this, or saying say only do 3 of these between services, time and time again...although im sure if you had done a thousand and then the gearbox went poop someone would be identifying this from the ecu.:punch::upyeah:

  14. Will the perk allow a downshift if there is a risk of over rev? Wonder if tip would...

  15. No. If you go for a downshift on the paddle with PDK, and your revs are too high, it won’t shift.

  16. what he said...

  17. What’s the driving experiences you speak of? A Porsche event?

  18. Andy is an instruction at Porsche experience Silverstone.

I hear, if you are good, you get blues & twos too :upyeah:

  19. Yes, as bradders says, held at Silverstone. I was lucky enough to blag a day in a GT3RS. It's a mega day out. Track work, skid pan, launch control, stamping on brakes etc. An instructor is with you all day and the lunch is great too.

  20. You can’t or shouldn’t be able to over rev a Tiptronic in semi auto mode. I couldn’t find a manual car I liked so I ended up with a Tip and I bought a manual steering wheel (smaller, thicker rim, leather) and fitted AMG flappy paddles to see if I could make the driving experience a bit more involving.

It’s not as good as a PDK set up but is actually pretty good fun. If you lift off briefly when changing up it eliminates the slushiness and when downshifting you can heel and toe it or left foot brake while blipping the throttle with your right and, again, it makes a big difference. However, if you get up towards the rev limiter it still up changes on its own even when in semi auto mode and also sometimes it won’t allow downshifts in order to avoid over revving, esp from 2nd to 1st, where there is a big gap between the ratios (2nd is either a bit tall or 1st is too short). So I asked my specialist if it was possible to remove or bypass the rev sensor but he told me that it’s all integrated into the ÉCU and is actually quite a sophisticated system for the time.

My car is similar to yours - a ‘99 C2 with a GT3 aero kit.
